Sam, who are you insured with?? I am an insurance agent/broker here in Cali and might be able to answer some of your questions. It really does depend on what company you have. Some companies, like Allstate for example, will basically cover everything as long as you have proof (i.e. receipts) of what was on the vehicle. Unfortunately, most companies do not work that way. Performance parts are usually never covered even if you do have special equipment coverage. Some companies offer limited coverage for aftermarket parts but you have to purchase additional special equipment coverage. Some compnaies do not offer this coverage at all. Insurance companies HATE modded cars because of the additional risk. Hopefully, you do have some coverage. If not, I'm afraid you may lose out on most of the $20k you put into your car.
Like I said, it really does depend on what company you are with and what kind of coverage they offer for aftermarket parts. Good luck sweetie.

Damn this is definitely very saddening. You've put so much into your car, its horrible. On the positive side, thank God all is well with the fam, house, and other vehicles. I'm sure you'll be back with some comparable in reasonable time. Good luck with the insurance process.

OH MY GOD SWEETIE!!! I can't beleive this. Let me know if you need anything.
1. Make sure you have all receipts. You can claim everything you had in the car for insurrence, and fire, regardless of arson or not (even if this was your or your husband's fault) it will still be covered if you have full coverage due to the fire.
2. Make sure you file a diminished value claim against your insurrence company. CA is really great about this for vehicle owners. One of my friends in law school filed one against his Lotus and he took away 25,000.
3. CA requires insurrence companies to give you something comparable to your current car if they are giving you a rental vehicle.
3. If you need anything, please don't hessitate to call or shoot me a message.

Sorry to see this happen, and the insurance issue will hopefully be sorted out.
The fact that you said the other lights went out after the 06 install couldn't have been the major issue here, now that I've thought about it Eric had asked me about it and I had suggested that you guys should check the fuse and then the harness.
I'm guessing the problem lies before you had the lights installed. The only thing I can think that might have started this is your turbo timer, given that would be the only thing still running when you turn the car off.

I heard AIG is one of the best insurance company you can insure your car through. I hope they step up like their good reputation and cover up the total loss of your vehicle. Good luck, Sam. Everything I look at those pix, they just wanna make me cry.
And hang in there, good things come to good people.
