some more insurance advice, since its my major and my dad is obsessed with selling it and makes sure i know it to the fulllest extentttttttttttttt.
YOUR car is different. it wont be denied coverage, becuase thats just not possible. it doesnt work that way. now, i just ran out to my car, and its sagging on the ground. no more suspension for me great...
ANYWAYS. i dont have my policy in front of me but i DO NOT have any special coverage for my mods. however, i am covered for the FULL value of every mod in my car.
ill get my policy out and explain it further.

Sorry for the Loss. As far as the FD being a mile away , they could have been at another call while yours came in to the dept. Response times are at 10 minutes. That is the reality of budget cuts and people not standing up for fire and police to be increased. Sorry again the Public pays for all this..
As far as a car fire they are quite a few things that can start a fire..Sorry That car was sick..

That being said, I have also know insurance companies to cover some pieces and not others, and long and short is if your mods start approaching half the cost of the vehicle or more, you really need to check.
I really hope it works out in this case.
For my history.
Car stolen, $3Ks in mods mainly stereo and interior. All receipts, only about $400 was covered. (Commerce Insurance)
Car broken into and stereo, amps and radar taken as well as CDs and other belongings (State Farm) Stereo covered, Radar and CDs not, Stereo was upgraded for replacement so helped.
My friends R1 stolen 2 years ago, about $6K in mods and work (Amica Insurance) Only about $1200 was covered. Not covered was his exhaust $1400, custom body and paint ($2K) and some other bits. Specifically told there should have been a rider on policy for mods and increased value of the vehicle.
State to State and company to company may vary. I have had mixed luck, and any time I have really started to have expensive mods I have been told to report, photograph, document and have them specifically listed on the vehicles.
