180°|Vision - Ultimate Street 3 Coverage @ 1024
This post contains G35 content, otherwise I would have posted this in "Other Cars".
On Saturday (8/15) we (Alex [Dieselx], our videographer Yoni and myself) took a ride to Dutchess County Airport for the Ultimate Street Race Day event. Saturday was the day for the Exotics, so we figured we'd go on Saturday to get footage of nicer cars instead of Sunday when they had Imports and American Muscle.
We got there at 11:30AM and saw about 40 cars, unfortunately no Ferrari's or Lambos, but a TON of Porsche's and Vipers, several AMG's, SC'd Mustangs, and a few hot Bimmers. Alex's 03 G35 sedan was without a doubt the slowest car there. They had a tent setup with 6ft hero's, drinks, chips and pizza. It already made the trip worth it considering the entrance charge was $10 for the spectators and $45 for the drivers.
The guys who setup the event (Steven and Arthur from http://www.ultimatestreet.com/) rented out a section of the air strip, although it wasn't long enough to hit high speeds, but quick cars were easily able to hit 100+, no one could get out of 3rd gear with an exception a few Porsche's who pushed their brakes to the limit towards the end of the strip and stopped on the last second with no room for error. The runs were quick and as soon as you finished it, you could go back in line and do it again 2-3min later as much as you want. The strip was WIDE so at the end of the strip people who just did their runs would either burn out or pull some nice drifts.... first time ever I've seen Alex do a nice drift on his 5AT G35 sedan... lol
After everyone had enough runs, they setup cones for a slalom run. Highest speed through the cones was 50mph by a tuned Audi S4 B5, and then a Porsche Carrera S topped that with 52mph. Alex did 40mph which was considered pretty good as everyone else with doing about the same or less.
All in all it was a very fun event, and I'm glad we took the 2hr ride there. Without a doubt my favorite car there was a CLK63 Black Series and the white APR Viper.
Let me know what you guys think of the shots, if they're good, or a bit over processed.
And... my favorite.
