Just installed the stillen damper and weird thing is going on now. I know it has nothing to do with the damper but when i start the engine the idle drops to "0" and feels like the car is about to kill and then goes to idle at around 600-650. Thinking its the relocation of the grounding?? Any ideas?

Thanks

got my Stillen Engine damper today (yes, I finally ordered one) Discounted price from Intense Motorsports ...

the thing is actually bigger than I anticipated I've seen bunches of pics and I'm sure I've seen a few in person but always though it was smaller... looks to be very good quality - now I just have to find time to install... It probably won’t be any time soon because I am in the process of getting everything together for my next project which will probably entail engine removal - so I'll probably wait till then to install the damper...

I'll post my driving impression once installed (but it might be skewed since it will be after other major mods)...

For anyone looking to get this, Intense Motorsport was the cheapest I could find and they knocked off an additional $5 for being a forum member - packaging is good and shipping was decent time frame – trouble free transaction.

I installed mine today. I bought SD new from a`member on my350z for $90. The install was pretty straight forward just not alot of room to work with.

I haven't driven the car hard yet due to the rain here hopefully tomorrow. The only thing I noticed (for now) was a little more vibration but nothing serious.

I will be taking the car to the track this thursday to see how`it performs hopefully my 06 airbox and z-tube will be here by then for a comparison.

Finally installed my damper today and the install was a pita. The space is really tight down there and don't bother installing if you don't have a long allen key with a handle or an allen socket.

Driving impression:

Didn't really notice any more vibrations then normal but I must say the shifting seems to be a lot smoother then before, noticeably going from 1st to 2nd. Throttle response feels a little better however the exhaust tone seems to be the same, not quite sure why some people say it changes. Haven't had a chance to launch to car yet but hopefully it will eliminate the wheel hop and catch better traction.

I've had mine installed for a month now. Haven't noticed much in the way of extra vibrations. Car launches a bit quicker. Reduced engine flex, transfers more torque to the wheels. Took me a couple of hours to install, not much room to work with.

nice, what sort of tools you need for the installation and does it come with anything else other then the damper?

Have you taken the throttle body off for anything? More importantly the little sensor in the back off the throttle body? If so, you might want to research the throttle body relearn procedure.

My take on the stillen dampener is I felt more vibration and maybe a tiny bit of acceleration response and thats about it.

Anyone know if this thing works on 07/08 sedans w/ the HR motor? Stillen's site says it doesn't, but I can't find aftermarket mounts for this car and I neeeeeed to stiffen up the driveline, it feels like my engine/trans mounts are made out of play-doh.
