Thanks,
Tony

Checked the 6 center bolts last night after work - no need for retightening. It seems having done it 2 times after the install and some driving, was fine.

thats useful information, when I do my install I will make a note to leave the engine cover off for a few days to check the 6 center bolts.

1/2 installed

Finally got the chance to install my spacer this past weekend. The install was straight forward. I did not have a tq wrench, but I believe I got really close. I did not notice any leaks and made sure not to overtorque (best I could). Since I may need to retighen the 6 center bolts, I will borrow a tq wrench this weekend and double check.

The performance is there!

I do not do a lot of high RPM driving, but there is definately more power in the low and mid rpms. The car feels a little "lighter" now. Also, 5th/6th gear pull on the hwy is effortless (more so than before).

This mod is WELL worth the money. It gets my vote for BEST BANG FOR THE BUCKS! And Tony gets my vote for BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE SATISFACTION.

BTW - my car is bone stock (no z-tube).....well..now I guess I'm not stock

So which spacer provides the most power for the G? I searched this whole thread and I couldn't find a answer. Do I get the 1/2 or the 3/8? I don't care about the engine cover, i just want more power!

Get the 1/2" spacer since you don't care about the engine cover.

taken from Hydrazines website:

"The G35 will accept any size spacer but the G35 engine cover will not fit with the 1/2" spacer. For maximum performance the MD XL ½” spacer should be used. For stealth mode modification, G35 drivers should use the 3/8” spacer. The engine cover fits nicely and there is no gap at the oil fill cap. With the engine cover on it looks totally stock.

The 350Z will accept any spacer size but the stock strut bar will only fit with the 350Z ss 1/4" spacer. If the strut bar is not needed, maximum performance can be made with the MD XL ½” spacer. The XL plenum spacers added growl is very noticeable."

so 1/2 is your answer

Right....that I beleive. But does it also mean a CAI w/ a spacer is better than a spacer w/o a CAI

Here you go:

I was able to get the engine cover back on with the 1/2 inch plenum spacer.
I removed the gromets and the rubber washers from the top holes of the engine cover. I then inserted the gromets back into the holes from the bottom of the cover and slipped on the rubber washers onto the gromet from the top of the cover. I then placed the cover over the plenum and screwed it in. The hood won't drop shut, you must slam it down a bit or just push down slightly and the hood locks down.
