Received the package today, nice looking spacer Tony!

Here are a couple tips I would add so far:

There are two studs on the bottom of the plenum that you need to remove. On my coupe they have a torx male end, and I could not find a torx female socket adaptor so I just used the jagged insides of a pair of plyers to unscrew them, it worked but took a while with the limited space available. I would recommend removing the oil cap and covering it with tape to free up more room for removal of the right stud. The plyers grind down the torx a bit, but it's not too bad if you are careful and take your time to match things up.

I would also recommend using some washers with the bolts. The stock bolts have the builtin-washer design, but the bolts that come with the kit are just plain hex. In order to protect the upper plenum I would plan on using washers. Tony may include these in the future, but for those that received the plain bolts I would definitely recommend washers.

Well I'm off to grab some washers (already had several but not quite enough), will post once I'm finished later tonite...

 

I noticed the bolt heads also, fortunately I had some washers around the garage.
An old woodworking trick(maybe mechinics too)---> To make the removal of the 2 lower plenum threaded studs easier, place 2 nuts on the stud & tighten them together, them simply put a wrench on the bottom bolt and unscrew the stud. With the 2 bolts "locked" together the stud will come out easily.
Oh ya, those little foam sticky things were not expected. They help hold the 6 spacers inside the plenum to the inner plenum support
Other wise no problems or issues.
Took it out for a spin afterwards, only time will tell...

Well, there is a definite sound improvement

You know that sweet sound the ztube pumps out at around 3krpms? Well I'm hearing it start to kick in earlier, like around 2.2k or so Then once it's past 3k I'm getting a nicer and deeper growl from the exhaust. The ztube sound is now somewhat drown out by the exhaust growl after 3k (which is a good thing =), but the ztube sound does seem higher pitched compared to what it was before. Also, I could almost swear that it's a bit deeper at idle as well, but can't tell for sure.

I have not done an ECU reset yet and didn't get a chance to check WOT sound or butt-dyno, will give that a try tomorrow, although I prefer the battery disconnect method so it may be a few days.

Right now my only mods are ztube + K&N. I'm hoping the spacer works well with the ypipes and cats which should be arriving any day now

 

Oh, Tony is now including washers with all packages, so this should no longer be an issue. I think just the first few got shipped without them...

 

How's the butt dyno so far...noticable improvement?

Why do you need to remove them???
Can't they just be left as guide posts....or there bolts to replace them???

 

Yes you need to replace them with bolts to secure the sides of the plenum upper.

 

the 2 guide posts each have a nut at the top which also double as a bolt down point. but with the new spacer they are now to short.

 

So what's the consensus from the guys that have done the install? More growl is nice but I didn't buy it for that.

 

Can you fit the cover back on?

 

Depends on the size of the spacer and car in question. But the cover hooks into the upper plenum. All you're doing is raising the upper plenum up.

 

in the pics can you see the spacer? i want one of them but dont know exactly what it is and what it does(difference in size)---thanks---Court

 

You can see the spacer in the bottom pic. The spacer is a different hue of silver than the upper and lower plenum.

Run a search, plenty of info out there. Group buy thread is in the marketplace. Ending 2/14.

 

Which thickness of spacer did you install? 1/4 or 3/8"?
