Alright yall ready again???
This July 21st I will be attacking non other than Californa Speedway once again hosted by the fine people at Speed Ventures.
This will be the full ROVAL configuration that includes the mega g-force inducing banked turn. Drive it, Ride it, Feel it!

As usual, this will be on a Friday (07/21/06), so start submitting those vacation (or my favorite, sick leave) forms at work.
You'd really owe it to yourself for not at least come and spectate for free from the stands, since this one is in our backyard @ Fontana (just moments away from Ontario Mills).
We will also be celebrating Dru (Meechin), Darren (Dklau33), yours truly's birthdays afterwards. Join us for a round of ice cold beer.

Any questions? ... ask!
This could be you ...THX723 @ California Speedway 1

Sweet! Don't forget to bring your camera/camcorder and photography skillz.
He/She who captures the best shot of me going sideways coming out of the chicane is entitled to a free drink from me.

Here are some answers.. More info can be found on http://www.speedventures.com
1) for this event it's $340 (for Friday)
2) Usually the whole day (from 8:30am to 5:00pm or so)
3) for beginners you get a good amount of runs. you run in the Yellow group and follow an instructor around the track (at least that's how things were at Spring Mountain) at a steady pace for the first run just to get aclimated with the track and the proper line around the track. The runs after the first run are fairly wide open, meaning you run at the pace you can handle with your car.
Check here for a example schedule: http://www.speedventures.com/schedule.asp
4) After the first or second run, you can basically go at whatever pace you can handle in your car, but hopefully keeping it safe. There is no speed limit on the track, but there are limits within pits and staging area (for safety).
5) Yes, this requires a helmet. you can pick one up at http://www.saferacer.com/ for about $250 (or so). Others on the site may have a cheaper place for helmets. Also, you will need to get a helmet that's SNELL rated (not DOT rated). Or if you're lucky you can borrow one from somebody else, to save money.
6) for beginners they say you can't have passengers (except instructor), but others were able to get away with it at Spring Mountain.
7) Speed Ventures requests that people pre-register, but I think they do allow walk-ons. but things usually fill up pretty quick, so it would be best if you could pre-register.
8) you're basically racing against the time, vs. other people. It's more for bragging rights vs. actual competition.
9) Im not sure about insurance (you may need to check with others who have more experience), but most insurance companies will not cover "****".. So, be VERY careful and watch out for others on the track.
10) Clint (THX723) will provide more than enough information when the time comes. He's very good about organizing these events.

Well, looks like Mike's handling this pretty well. Good job buddy!
After party TBD at this time. We can all pitch in on this one, since we're 'locals'.
Feel free to make any suggestions. The Mill is just down the street ... lots of stuff to do there.
