1st Annual Florida G-out
1st Annual Florida G-out
OK Floridians, I tryed to hijack Neff's thread but he wouldnt let me...we are tryin to setup a Florida meet maybe late June or early July.
The plan is to find a park and have a huge grill-out for lunch then find a nice long route and drive to Hooters, Bennigans, Fridays, or somethinig similar for dinner before everyone heads home.
I know without a doubt people from Jacksonville, Tampa, and Orlando would be going, and hopefully we could get some Miami Gs to join in. Russ mentioned Melbourne...I'm new to Florida so until I check a map, Im not sure on distance for everyone but does anyone have ideas of a nice centralized park??

Re: 1st Annual Florida G-out
This may sound weak (I'm not really one for long rides in the G) but...
since Melborne is East of Orlando
Tampa is West of Orlando
Jacksonville is North of Orlando
and Miami is South of Orlando...
anyone see where this is going?
300bhp??? We'll see... 5-22-2004

Re: 1st Annual Florida G-out
HAHA this is exactly what I thought before Russ said Melbourne
Tampa and Jacksonville are both under 2hrs from Orlando and Miami is 3hrs
Melbourne, I THOUGHT, was 1hr from Miami and therefore 2hrs for Orlando, 3hrs for Jacksonville and prolly longer for Tampa
I know the Miami ppl seem to always say 3hrs is too far to come to Orlando but honestly the only diehards I know are in central florida and I dont think all of us should drive 2hrs+ south because we are willing to.
That being said, I am willing to drive up to 3hrs for this all florida meet and I completely understand that you dont want to Neff.

Re: 1st Annual Florida G-out
I vote for an orlando location as well, our after dinner ride could be to downtown disney for a night at pleasure island or somewhere similar. Anybody have any connections for a sponsor to help with food and bev expenses? Orlando Infiniti? Titan Motorsports?
Re: 1st Annual Florida G-out
Hey, we can do anything.
I think a big family picnic thing is a good idea, somewhere around here. If we all bring the family we won't want to drive too far.
A meet on the East coast (Cocoa/Daytona) would be more of a guy thing.

Re: 1st Annual Florida G-out
Well again, the point is to unite the florida Gs...obviously all the Orlando ppl are gonna say, lets do it in orlando. If it truly is centralized and we can find a good location then that sounds good but I want to be fair to the other cities too so, anyone got a better idea for a location???
Beach would be great but Daytona adds 45min to the Tampa people who already have a 2hr drive to Orlando

Re: 1st Annual Florida G-out
I wonder why they call Orlando, "Central Florida"? Hmmm... Let's see... I'm trying to find a "central" meeting point and... Nope, I'm stumped.

Re: 1st Annual Florida G-out
I'm in Tampa and O-town wouldn't be a problem for me. The dates would be the only problem. Let's see if we can get a firm date/location and go from there..

How bout Miami.. you cant debate on South Beach...and if we ride at night down washington ave. and lincoln road and catch somethin to eat aroun there. Yeah we know orlando is in the central part but honestly.. is it really nice and Alive at night?? We can meet at Markham Park, thats where every club meets up.. Its gigantic and has a million parking spaces. nice for pics too.. look it up on other car forums. If im not wrong i thinki t was bimmerfest that i went to and it was off the hooook.. Just a thought

Re: 1st Annual Florida G-out
I mentioned the Melbourne are because it's only an hour from Orlando but cuts down the south Florida drive by an hour. If we don't get much response from the south florida guys then we should stick with Orlando. It's the same amount of time for us Jax guys so I'm down either way.
Wickham Park, Melbourne Fl
Jax - 171 miles
Orlando - 66 miles
Tampa - 141 miles
West Palm Beach - 114 miles
Ft Lauderdale - 156 miles
Miami - 182 miles
Turkey Lake Park
Jacksonville - 149 miles
Orlando - 9 miles (why even drive? just bring a pic of your car and walk)
Tampa - 77 miles
West Palm Beach - 168 miles
Ft Lauderdale - 209 miles
Miami - 230 miles
The Melbourne area adds time to most of us but cuts the time by almost an hour for the Lauderdale / Miami guys. If we get enough interest (10 or more) from the guys down south than we should try and make the "Florida (not Central Florida, Neff)" meet more accessible to them.

Re: 1st Annual Florida G-out
I don't think it will be in south florida because that makes it a 5 hour drive for us Jax guys and 3 hours for the majority of the members which are from the orlando area. Melbourne is the closest it will get for the south florida guys.
