hehe Steven. No, fortunately no GT3 pre-party's necessary over here. That track (along w. many others) is soo well imprinted into my cerebral cortex that I do hot laps in my dream every night. None the less, GT3 does a pretty good job simulation LS that I think it's worth while for newbies to practice on. Just don't drive like you do there in the game on the track ... or you're going to be pretty sorried. One thing you won't be prepared for is the ball stripping g forces and stomach dropping elevation changes. Mark my word on that. hehe

Clint really made a point that you have to revisit. The games and even videos of real laps give no real clue of the elevation elements of Laguna Seca. It is like a ROLLER COASTER. The run up the Rahal Straight between turns 6 and 8 is just brutally "up", but unless you look behind you, and you really shouldn't, you don't have any idea. Walk the track...and you can't believe that they actually paved it that steep! And coming through the corkscrew the drop is so radical that you actually start turning and accelerating BEFORE you can see the pavement below and in front of you. Turn 9 drops so severely that you would notice except for the need to hang on to the wheel and get the drift right to avoid flying off the track wide right.

NOTHING on games or video will prepare you fully. So take it smart, and take it easy. If you are newbies, you will have an instructor. If you are not, but have never driven LS, use an instructor. This is about fun, and safe.

This track is like Mecca. Nothing like it anywhere, and nothing so special.

Hmmm...I was thinking of leaving earlier than 11. I'll let you guys know if I will be with you guys on the caravan. I wanted to leave around 8 so I can hit Solvang for breakfast. Yes I'll be going the scenic route towards Monterey more fun that way.

I believe we're already planning on stopping Solvang on the way back as well as taking the scenic route. You are certainly entitled to have breakfast at Solvang though!

Planning on doing the 5 fwy on the way there? Is that why the meeting is in Sylmar?

I have found that the most efficient way up is to take the 5 to 41, then cut across to Paso Robles, and go north to Salinas, then take the 63 across to Monterey. But it is also fun to rumble through the Santa Inez Valley and amble up the 101, taking the San Marcos Pass, and if you have oodles of time and buns of steel...Pacific Coast Highway 1 is the prettiest of all.

What time are you leaving your house? I'll probably have to meet you there as I'm not to sure of the Denny's you are talking about. I always thought it was Irvine where the 5 and 405 met. Wine tasting in Paso sounds cool, I'll have to let my younger brother and sisters know since they live in Paso. That way I can say hi to them. Still need to hit up Autobacs for the helmet too.
