Uprev Q&A
Hey guys, I got my 05 revup dyno tuned and paid for the ARC license but honestly I'm not sure if my tuner knows what he's doing.
He didn't even know about MAP switching and he can't seem to make a burble MAP. He says the timing changes he makes get reverted back by the ECU. It should be 4 degrees but keeps going back to 15 degrees.
I wanted the ARC features but when I left he didn't turn any of them on except launch control, only the first step working.
Flat foot shifting, if I understand correctly, when I shift with my foot still in the gas pedal, the RPMs shouldn't rise by more than 50rpm (the default setting), correct? He said it's turned on but when I try FFS it just revs up to the redline like normal...
Also they keep saying the 2nd step of the 2 step launch control isn't for NA cars.
So can revups get burble MAPs? What's the deal? I paid a **** ton of money and barely got half of what I wanted.

I mean he was knowledgeable, but it just seemed like he wasn't very experienced with uprev, and he said he'd done burble MAPs on a few other Z's and G's but mine wouldn't work.

Just because someone is a good tuner does not mean they know how to tune with Uprev.. If they never took the time to fly down to Austin and get trained they're just figuring it out on their own

Correct. 2004 and newer come with factory wideband O2 sensors so we can see everything we need to tune it remotely. 2003 models we can still tune remotely, but you have to either install an aftermarket wideband (innovate sensors will link directly with the Uprev software so you can log) or just flash a base tune and call it good. Not perfect but gets you close.
Seymore, I keep hearing pretty soon theyre gonna come out with a new emissions testing machine that will be able to tell if the stock ECU programming has been altered. If it detects its not a stock tune, your car will fail emissions. Will the Uprev tune make it impossible to pass smog?

I don't know anything about a new machine but I have heard reports that some people are failing in CA just from a flashed ECU, even when they're running a completely stock file. Only in CA tho. But the way things are going pretty soon they're probably just going to start failing everyone who isn't electric

Any idea if the Uprev tune will pass or not?
PS: California is a piece of **** trying to chase fairytale dreams. Did u hear pretty soon theyre not gonna allow any new sales of gas powered lawn equipment? Idiots!!

Yeah its probably not a new machine. Just a more advanced software.

Don't get me started on the off road gas engine ban... which is not only completely impracticle but will ONLY hurt poorer small business owners (lawn care, mainly immigrants) and home owners. Ya'll supposedly got a drought going on down there for years, but this spring when I drove through beverly hills, they had the sprinklers on for so long it ran out into the streets. Drive up to the bay through Mountain View, Palo Alto? Its as green as jurassic park. Makes you wonder about what you hear the people in charge saying.

The small engine ban doesn't go into effect until 2023, plenty of time for people to repeal that madness.
As for the UpRev tune, can't you flash back to a 100% stock tune, put the license back on the cable, pass emissions, then put the UpRev tune back on the car?
Also, does this emissions law only apply to vehicle newer than 25 years old? The G35 is only 7 years from that point so....

As of April this year Uprev does not allow you to go back to stock and remove the license. They've switched to a 1 license 1 ECU policy which is on par with all the other tuning companies
Hmm, well I suspect they'll have some kind of workaround/revert in the future so they aren't losing the large California market. Same with all tuning companies.
Hopefully anyways.
