Thanks for the candid answer. I will have to call them out on that if/when I decide to ever sell my G. Does it have to be done through the original tuner? Or should I be able to take it to any tuner and ask them to do the back to stock (I am assuming there is a cost to this).

BTW what type of mods would require a re-tune? I was tuned with a PCV delete (breathers on both valve covers and capped off plenum + intake ports) and now I am thinking of going back and hooking the pcv system back up and using a baffled catch can instead (the oil and crank vapors bother my wife unfortunately).

From my understanding the tune gives the ECU new parameters to adjust to so I am assuming switching to the catch can shouldn't hurt anything other than having to do an idle relearn.

Now intake and larger throttle body mods I can see requiring a re-tune.

Haven't played with it in a while, but I thought when you flashed back to stock it put the license back in the cable? What's with this screen shot business? Seems totally unnecessary.

If you don't have a cable, there is really no point to this. The idea is to be able to reuse or sell a cable with a good license on it.

What you're describing will give an extra license back to your tuner, they could possibly use it on your new car. Would guess many don't want to deal with tracking who extra licenses belong to.

That makes more sense, as I do not own a cable. Thanks!

The licenses used to go straight back onto the cable when you flashed back to stock, but due to piracy issues they had to remove that feature a couple years ago. Now the software erases the license and you have to send Uprev time stamped screenshots before and after to prove that you had a license, and get it replaced.

You can thank guys like this for making it difficult for the rest of us.

Its very easy for tuners who have a pro cable (can hold multiple licenses) to flash you back to stock and get the license refunded onto their cable, then just give you a license credit towards a future tune.

Or you can pick up a reflash cable yourself and flash back to stock to transfer/ sell the license to someone else.

It was and that's why we can't get the licenses automatically refunded when we flash back to stock anymore

Is there a list of map files anywhere for basic tunes like high flow air filter and free flow exhaust or basic base tunes etc for the G35's??

No, every tune is done custom for the vehicle we're tuning at the time. There is no free database of tune files

G35x
Hello everyone. Not sure if this thread is still alive but I have a 2004.5(I’m pretty sure) G35x sedan, and I’m looking to have it uprev tuned sometime in the near future. I am aware that I will need to purchase a Innovate Wideband to datalog, but will I need to weld new holes in the exhaust for the sensors? Or can I use the existing ones since the 2004.5 and up have Wideband O2 sensors? If I do need to weld new ones, where should I weld them? Past the cat or in the y pipe? I am still new to the G community so I apologize for any errors on my part.

You don't need to do any of that, only 2003 models do. 2004 and newer have factory widebands and we can fully tune remotely without having to do any other modifications. Shoot me a PM when you're ready I'll get you set up

so I can just buy the LC-1 and hook it up to my existing O2 port? And it will read? That’s awesome! Saves me some time and money. I had always thought that I needed a wideband O2 sensor since the uprev website mentions it for 04’ G35 sedans.
