Yes, do let us know how it goes and your dealer costs. In checking Navteq's site, I saw the update (i.e. coupon) costs $190 for the 08-09 models. I imagine dealers will be charging an hour's labor?

I'm interested too...

...but would like to know what dealer costs are after the $190 code purchase. Also, the NAVTEQ site mentioned a discount code...any knowledge to share? I drive all over rural areas in Indiana and the current map in my 2008 G seems to miss a lot of my destinations. Thanks.

Well, now I'm in the market for a new car to replace my wife's Lexus. Any new car I buy or lease from now on I will negotiate FREE labor for all Nav updates.

Thanks for the thread and info guys! If I can avoid the ridiculous cost of not being able to update myself then the dealer should be willing to throw it in to a deal. Just the principle of it! I don't mind paying for the map update but if they limit the install of the updates to dealer only I don't think I want to pay for that

Worked out fine.

wow... $105 for 5 mins of work, and $190 for a database update file? So $295? You can buy a top of the line GPS for that.

$300 for a map upgrade?

Any other enhancements or just new maps?

Just bought my 08 G35 with Navi a week ago and I just checked and the map is 07-08 year. Should the dealer have had the update already installed?
