We populate all our boards (every product we sell) in house as well as repair modules under our warranty so we still prefer through hole components for their ease of use.
We do have some surface mount parts on our pushbutton start module that is under development now, so we'll see if there are any advantages from going smd.

I am having some issues getting my hands on one of the components needed to manufacture the board. I spoke with a suppliar this morning and hopefully I'll soon have them. If I don't, luckily we're early enough in to the project that I can design around the component and it won't effect production.

I have been very dissapointed in the Nav system because it doesn't even have my home address in it and my house is over eight years old. I would like to be able to set in my home address but the manufacturer just said sorry maybe we will correct it on the next update which will cost ..... I let infiniti know I wasn't happy paying over 2k for something I couldn't use to my satifaction. They also said the same thing as the manufacturer.

As a stop gap, you should try saving your home address by coordinates.
IIRC, the navi lets you save a location wherever the car is, but I'm not sure what it does if there is no street there.

I've tried that. It lets you save the location, but you will never be able to calculate a route to it.....for obvious reasons....

True! But I would assume he would know how to get home from where the road "ends"? I usually shut my nav off when I am in familiar turf on the way home.

And by the way.....just to clarify. It does not calculate a route to "where the map ends", it just won't calculate a route period. At least not with my settings, though there might be a way to tweak it to allow it to do that.
Anyway.....getting a bit off topic for this post.....

Progress! I finally was able to write up a 'how to' for this module for our forums. I still need to make a formal installation guide.

Here is the list of people willing to test:
1. stanfa
2. kring
3. viguera
4. 07G35Socal
5. Levelpar1
6. terrycs
I will be PM'ing each of you soon to verify that you are still interested in testing and to arrange payment/shipping!
