It's really not that bad. This interior was designed really well. I can't over how much more solid this new interior is over the 03/04 interior - now that is where you have to worry about scratches!

I took it off twice with no scrath. The most important thing that u must have is Mask Tape. Tape it all around the corner side of the console.

+1 it really isn't bad, I've done it twice without issue. it comes apart very nicely and it goes back together rock-solid. Really nothing to worry about.

Mine is ordered. I'm a little nervous about pulling things apart, not because I couldn't do it, but just because it's a fairly new car and quite nice :-) BUT, I WILL be doing it!!!

Does anyone have additional pictures of how to do all of this? Is there a lot more on the DPTechnogolgies forum as to detailed instructions? I have seen Kevin's pictures and they really help BUT, I would love to see ones that actually show the relay module and all of the wire connections after done. Does anyone have ones they can share?

When Kevin says to connect to ground and ignition power, are those wires you can splice into in the same area you are placing the relay OR must you run wires back to a fuse-box and chassis ground.

OR, if you splice to wires, do the instructions indicate what color wires to connect to and where?

Finally, other than the two wire soldered to the control module, could one use those 3M red splice connectors to make all of these wire splices? It would seem that they would make the splices easy and safer. They aren't tiny so that may be a reason you couldn't.

the wires your splicing into on the harness are very small, 26ish AWG. stripping them takes a little patience. the wires on the module and relay are larger, 18ish AWG. using a splice kit b/w the two wires probably won't work.

You will have a hard time finding "quick splices" to work with our module. Our wires are 20awg and the stock wires are much smaller - 24-26 awg I would guess. Those quick splices really only work when you are splicing wires of the same size.

These splices are by no means "safer" and these splices will, more often then not, lead to connection issues over time as they vibrate themselves free.

Does the bypass have to be set to time out? Specifically, is the longest that the VSS can be bypassed 20 seconds without inputting commands?

Thanks

Kevin,
I did a paypal with KP last Monday for the OK bypass and mirror tilt.
I see on the web site that my order hasn't been shipped.
Is there a back log and if so, how long do you estimate before shipping?

Okay... I get that. So does anyone have best advice on how they tapped the module wires into the harness wires? Pocket knife to trim insulation back on the harness and then wrap the module wires onto the harness wire?

Kevin... are the installation instructions available to be e-mail to someone like me who has purchased prior to getting my shipment so I could view them? You can see my purchase and Paypal payment has been made at your site.

The modules, at this point, are being made to order, so it will take the full 3-5 business days for orders to ship. I know we have a bunch of orders to ship tomorrow.

The timer is set at 30 seconds now, increased from 20.

The module can be programmed to operate in the "auto timeout" mode or in a simple on/off mode that doesn't automatically time out (it stays on until you turn it back off).

These wires are really small, I would suggest using wire strippers over a pocket knife. Wrap the wires and then solder them, then tape them up using a high quality elecftrical tape (Scotch 33+ preferably). If you use "cheap" tape it will have issues dealing with the extreme heat inside the car in the summer time.

The instructions can be downloaded from our site, www.KPtechnologies.com, under the "Support" tab. Or, click here: http://www.kptechnologies.com/docs/N...stallation.pdf

For a DIY check out: http://www.kptechnologies.com/forums...php?f=6&t=1019

This really isn't a "step by step" guide, but should be enough for people to install this module. If this guide leaves you with questions about how to install it you should consider finding a professional installer to help you out.

Thanks for the note.
