Shudder at 40mph (~60km/h)
Sounds good. I setup an appointment to have it looked at on Thursday and let them know that it could be a possible trans temp sensor issue. I'll also have them do a full transmission flush while its in being looked at.
I'll report back once I get the car back.

hi everyone!
new here to g35driver and i had just traded in my mini cooper for my g.
i absolutely love this car! i ended up getting a '07 G35S 6MT.
the only issue i have with it is the jerking/surging that happens when it's cold.
i only have 1100 miles left on the factory warranty, and i've taken it in multiple times for other small things and mentioned this, but they could not reproduce the issue and did nothing to fix it.
i see the talk about the temp sensor on the auto trans, but alas, i have the 6MT.
is there some temp sensor in the 6MT that could be bad? or might it be something with the VLSD?
i hope to take it in one more time and this time get the issue fixed.
btw, i love the information on this forum! great site!

So far, yeah - but it still comes & goes. I'm trying to pin down the exact conditions that provoke the shudder. Unfortunately,it has come back after the flush/tsb. It seems that that cooler weather (60-70) seems to provoke it.
Got the car back from the dealership today after bringing it in to have the "shudder" looked at. They found that both air flow sensors were not operating correctly and replaced both of them. Also, since the car was nearing 60k, I had them do a complete trans flush.
Driving it I can tell that everything is much smoother and no longer acting erratic like it was before. I have a pretty good feeling that they fixed the problem permantley.
BTW my sensors never caused my CEL to illuminate, but they still found them to be reading incorrectly.

good to hear that they fixed it for you lems. How much did the flush cost for you? (i already did mine myself but i was just curious) I am taking mine in this thursday for them to look at. Will post results when its finished. Also, lems, please post back if it goes back to shuddering. Thanks for your input
Heynow, we should get our sensors looked at...

Interresting stuff. When i spoke to my old mechnaic that used to work on my maxima. He said that it sounds like a A/F ratio issue, which MAFs would be responsible for. I cleaned both of my MAFs recently, and didn't notice any diffference. I also noticed that i get a shudder when i coast down to about 5 mph.....hmm
The trany flush ran $240 which is on the higher side. But for the service I got, it was worth it.
I also had a bad tensioner and a serpintine belt that was starting to shread. That was also replaced under warranty as well.
The conditions were ideal this morning for the car to act up. It was about 60 degrees and when I got up to the 40-45 mph and held the throttle in one spot, the surging was gone. I would say that 9 out of 10 times it would act up in the past.

Damn!!! So after taking it in and having the following ITBs done, my G is a totally different car!
ITB00-027a/08-046b – Vehicle Pull
ITB07-015a – Navigation Voice Command Issues
ITB07-019 – Gas Cap Issue
ITB07-001b – Sunroof Finisher
ITB07-028c – Cruise Control Surging
ITB07-045a – Cold Start Issues
ITB08-014/015a – TPMS Leak
ITB08-021b – GPS Update
ITB09-004a – GPS Lockup
I can definitely feel the difference in the accelerator pedal.
It drives very smooth and predictable; as others have said, very linear.
I suffered from the jerking/tugging while the vehicle was cold and it drove me nuts!
Now the car runs smooth as ever, with perfect throttle response.
I had a new transmission installed less than 200 miles ago too.
That with this latest service visit has made my G 1000X better.
I love this car! Now for the mods...

KurTecH, so you're saying that you're another person with a swapped tranny?
So to sum up so far, as the possible shuddder culprits we have:
-TCM Programming
-VB
-Trans Temp Sensor(s)
-MAF sensor(s)
wow, the possibilities are endless!

Also, an ECU update completely resolved my issue. So you can add that to your list. Since mine is a 6MT it does not have TCM or Trans Temp Sensor.
My symptoms were like someone had described earlier on this site, like the fuel was getting cut-off or the TBs were opening/closing in a pulsating rhythm.
It got so bad at times that it would throw you forward and backwards in your seat, and even triggered the SLIP light on occasion.
All I can say though, is after the ECU update, ITB07-028 and ITB07-045a, it drives perfect. I mean it is smoother than it's ever been and feels literally like a brand new car. I use to have the issue 4 out of every 5 mornings, or nights after getting done with work, essentially after a cold soak, and now, I'm goin on almost 7 days with no issues.
I consider it resolved at this point...
