^ ya they probably reprogrammed the TB and by time you took the drive back it allowed for the ecu to set up everything back to normal

Disconnect your battery before you touch anything and you'll be fine.

It will reset the ECU, which means it will re-learn the idle.

Some people disconnected the TB harnesses, which you can do as long as you disconnect the battery first. If you're not going to disconnect the harnesses (you don't need to touch them anyway) then no need to disconnect the battery either.

trouble after cleaning

Ok I cleaned my tbs at 54k... yuk. I didn't disconnect anything to the tv except the intake. Cleaned and replaced, simple... only NOW I have an idle concern. Its steady, but its fluctuating at times from 700-1000rpms. Do I need to disconnect the battery? How do I reset the tb idle?

I took the liberty to add this^ edit to your post.

It's very important to NOT disconnect the harness.
If it is disconnected, and the butterfly is moved while cleaning;
the ECU will lose the closed or zero position of the sensor.
If that happens the car may not start or may run poorly.

If the cable is disconnected you have to perform a
"THROTTLE VALVE CLOSED POSITION LEARNING" procedure for the ECU.

I disconnected the battery and didnt disconnect the TB harness , I did the Re-learn and worked great.......... only after i had to turn it off

Resetted the ECU and did Re-Learn and worked ,then in the morning it got the infamous "SES" light

Codes: P0507 - High Idle
Codes: P0327 - Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Low Imput ( Banker 1 or Single Sensor )

Have Fun

Did you drive around for a couple days for the idle to recalibrate?

Here you go. You must do both in the order they are written. You should also have a timer to do the 2nd one properly. Or you can take it to any mechanic and have them do it with the Nissan Consult system.

Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning

Operation Procedures
1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch is “ON”.
3. Turn ignition switch is “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
Make sure that the throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound.

Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)
It is better to count the time accurately with a clock.

Operation Procedures
1. Perform “Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning”.
2. Perform “Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning”.
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
5. Conform that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
6. Repeat the following (steps 7a, 7b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
7a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD)
7b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the Check Engine Light (CEL) stops blinking and turned ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the CEL is ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle.
11. Wait 20 seconds.
12. Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.

Clear them and see if they come back. P0507 probably won't. As for P0327 I'm not sure what triggered it as the TB's don't really have anything to do with it. Anyhow, what is your car idling at right now? Should be around 650rpm +/- 50rpm with the car warmed up and all accessories and ac/heater OFF.

Cool Panic on Idle

I didn't have a concern with anything until "After" I cleaned the TB's for the first time at 53K. Yuk. The DIY was simple, the task easy... I never disconnected ANY harnesses or tubing other than the intake from the TB's. Removed TB's cleaned with mild detergent (K&N cleaner), rag, toothbrush and bling bling... then there was the NEW problem that I apparently created. I noticed the RPM's at idle were different over several starts. I did the ECU reporgramming and it was the same. I called the Infiniti shops and they said as long as the RPM's at idle are between 700-900 RPM's (based on power usage, i.e. defrost/AC, etc) that this was normal. They said to drive it for a couple trips and see what happens. What do you know, everything's back to normal after 3 trips around town including freeway for 20 miles.

The ECU relearns the driving habits and idle according to Infiniti of Kirkland as long as you DON'T disconnect any harnesses. If you're idle is inconsistent, up and down or all over the place... you may want to take it in, spend the $65-$85 to have them reset it. Great DIY, but I wonder why it's not mentioned that there WILL be a minor idle issue.

The idle issues seem to happen to some cars and not others. I've cleaned mine a couple times now. Also did the same for a couple friends. no idle issues after cleaning. However since there's a number of posts now on that I've just added a note towards the end just in case.
