K&N drop in filters for 07 sedan

Since K&N doesn't make any drop in filters for the HR motor ive found an alternative. The 01-03 toyota prius filters are the virtually the same size as ours,i bought 2 K&N prius filters,i had to modify the the filters a little by cutting some of the rubber and part of the filter but it will only take a couple of minutes to cut with a box cutter.I had the fujita intakes on their but it felt a little slower because the filters were getting heat soaked, and the pipes were even to hot to touch.fujita claims 7 hp to the wheels, but when they dyno'd the car the hood is popped and a fan blowing in the engine bay. Before i put the fujita intakes on,i just took out the stock filters i ran 13.8@103,when i put the fujitas on the best run i could get was a 14.1@100.I put the stock boxes back on and 13.80s again. So give the prius K&Ns a try!

PS I have the fujita intakes for sale if anybodys interested!

Great information on the Fujita. Thanks for posting.

I expect K&N will come out with a proper fit soon though.

I put in a request to K&N to see if they would start making one.

http://www.knfilters.com/products_ne...md=G35&en=3.5L

If more of us submit requests maybe they'll listen.

very very interting results you posted on the fujita.

I knew it before I got rid of my car, when driving with the fujitas it did feel slower. Only thing worth it was the sound, but hey thats with any intake.

cant say the Injen CAI had this big of an effect on my 06 coupe though.

What is the part number for the filter you purchased? I'd assume the Prius has had a few engine options over the years.

PS: The K&N site you've linked give us the option to select a 3.5 liter G35 but not specifically the Sedan. The Coupe and Sedan engines are different for 07 as most of you are aware. We may be requesting K&N to make an 07 coupe filter as far as we know. I did this about 6 to 8 months ago. I have not receive an email yet.

Have you guys ever removed the OEM filter from the air box and gave the car a little bit of gas?

IMO, it sounded so much better. It almost sounded like it had an intake installed. LOL I wouldn't do it again, but it sure was a tasteful sound to my ears. (If you want to try it, do it at your own risk!)

I hope the K&N drop in will make a difference in the sound... it'd be so much nicer if the drop-ins will make the OEM air box sound like them Fujitas or Injens!
