Thanks for the input guys, it is the text book round peg (the kit) fitting into a square hole (battery clamp). I do not know how the earlier model clamps look like and this may a small change to the factory set-up that could have a negative out come to the integrity of the initial design.

I am off the to the parts store and will let you know what I come up with.

rustyeleio thanks photo.... I was also referencing that thread as well. But it looks like the clamp in that picture was of a different design than our 08's. Also if you look closely at the photo there is no thread showing from the bolt. This also worries me. In order to have a properly secured nut you need have at least three threads showing..... at least it has to be that way on airplanes. I have concern of the nut backing off over time and that would also have a negative out come as well.

I am going to try and find a longer battery terminal bolt as well.

I will let you know what I find. I am not holding my breath that the cookie cutter parts store will be much help.

Yeah I heard something similar about threads showing on the backside for strength but that was more of a load bearing fastener (?). Maybe not as critical here. I think your idea about piggy-backing or double-nutting a 2nd nut onto the first is probably the best solution. This would probably use up all the threads on the bolt but this is not a high stress situation so maybe some low-strength thread locker might work if vibration is a concern.

Or maybe something like these battery post extension? A possibility if the OEM bolt is removable, I actually haven't checked yet.

Thanks for the links... I have seen those two adaptors at the parts store. I think the piggy back is the best way to go. I found metal self locking nuts and I think there will be two or three threads left. That is good... but I have not found the proper thread count.... so far everything is non metric. I'll keep looking.

Thanks again for your help.

There is a difference. I'm not going out on a limb and give you a "quantifiable" number (i.e. 50% faster, etc) , but there is an obvious difference.

Unhappy

The nut is a self locking M6-1,0 found at you local parts store. I think it may be a good idea to provide this with the kit to prevent a trip to the parts store.

This is what I did.... I piggy backed the existing bolt. With everything in place and tight there is sufficient thread left over. I am happy with that. The problem I have now is the terminal stretched from trying the ground wires in the middle of the clamp. I now have to reshape it to make it fit or just put a shim over the post.

I have to say.... it was a very easy install with nothing to it. But I am not impressed the initial instructions on how everything connected to the battery. I hope this post prevents any future issues with owners that are as **** me. I know I am not going to make any friends when I say this, but looking back at it now I should have kept my $90. The battery connection was way too much of a PITA.... round pegs do not fit into square holes, it is just that simple.

With a test drive out of the way nothing that noticeable after all is said and done. But then again when it comes to mods I am really really really picky. I could be missing something and I will give it a chance.

Good luck to future installers, it is easy but remember get a M6-1,0 to piggy back the connection on the bolt.

sometimes having spent $xxx makes you "want" to feel something, even though it's more subtle that the "butt" meter may suggest... but i wont' say anything until i sit in someone else's G with the BB kit.

The findings are better.... even my wife noticed the difference.

OK I feel better now.

Just remember to get a self locking M6-1,0 to piggyback the connection.

And what exactly did your wife say?

What are your current impressions on the before and after.

Share the wealth of your experience, brother lightyear.

This is what was relayed to me....

She said when getting onto the highway the car shifted quicker and smoother (as advertised), basically the shift delay was not there. Also (as advertised) the throttle was more responsive.

The problem I have is my "seat of the pants" gauge really has not been established since she drives Infiniti more. She is a little gear head but at the same time she is also a "if it isn't broke, do not try and fix it". But she is happy with this.

PeterUbers, I would still try and find on already installed same year and give it a try before mod just for your own sake.

Hope my ranting helped.
