BTW. I use 93 octane in Tennessee, which is why I went ahead and increased my timing by 2. The nice thing with a bullydog is that you can change it anytime you want to.
Yes this will benefit a stock engine, however I believe if you have more MODS (I.E. Intake/Exhaust) you will get even more power. I'm almost completely stock (just have an intake) and noticed improvements (described in the first post to this thread).
Advancing the timing in laymans terms (correct me if I'm wrong) means that your engine will be burning a little bit more fuel to make higher combustion inside the engine. To much and it will "ping" meaning it has predetonated ("running to rich on your fuel"). 2 Degrees is so little (which is what the max the bullydog can change) that it won't affect much. Also if you use higher octane fuel it will prevent predetonation which means you can have higher combustion. If you decrease your timing it's called "running lean". There's a whole science to timing and compression ratios (especially with forced induction) that you want to find the optimal ratio. Our engines are equipped to retard timing if it detects pinging. (Which is why you can run 87 octane gas and it will produce less horsepower, but produce more HP if you run premium) I'm not an expert at all so you may want to use "the google" to research it more.

Increasing timing has nothing to do with the amount of fuel you are adding. it just changes when the spark goes off to start the power stroke of the engine. the farther you advance it the farther the cylnder travels on the compression stroke before the spark plug fires. this added pressure creates alot more heat and so a higher octane fuel must be used (more octane=more resistance to predetination from too much heat) in exchange for this later spark you get a longer power stroke and a more powerful one at that. that is where the power increase comes from.
I used to have a diablosport programmer on my Mustang GT (before the G)and when i fully advanced the timing on it i could feel a world of difference at WOT.

Yesterday I received by email the 1.2.2c revision for my car. I select the premium configuration with 7850rpm limiter. On the settings menu I notice that they program -2deg of timing in premium mode. In full throttle acceleration from a standstill it feels faster. After 3500rpm and higher is very good. Because I have FI HFC's and I eliminate the y-pipe and have H-pipe, the idle speed is smooth now. Before the ecu feels more air and sent more fuel causing that when I start the engine, it shuts down (too much gas in the mix). Also the service engine soon turns off. High speed runs are SCARY now because my front tires are 245/45/18 instead of the 225/45/18 it has before (Toyos T1R do not offer 225/50/18, so I have 245/45/18 all around).
WARNING - if you raise your speed limiter, you will hit more than 150mph in 4th!.
Finally it is a great upgrade for people that don't need to tune the car too much.

I got a completely stock G35S, performed the tuning which was easy, as previous noted it took roughly 20 mins initially to read the ECU.
Only changes I made was switching to premium,increasing timing +2, upping the speed limiter to 170 and rev to 7950
While out on a quick run I did noticed a difference in power in some instances i.e. from a dead stop (flinging my gf back in her seat
), However did encounter some unresponsiveness, in one case I was cruising at 80 and mashed down for more and got nada in return 
(VDC enabled and not in DS mode)
