VDC Off/Slip Light + Hard Shifting (AT)
VDC Off/Slip Light + Hard Shifting (AT)
2007 G35X w/ 103k miles automatic transmission. Recently had all my tranny fluid's changed and my front brakes replaced (rears need new rotors and pads soon).
I understand these lights will come on if I'm short on brake fluid or if I need to change my brakes but I doubt this is the issue. Both of these lights came on randomly last night and my car was shifting horribly. Both the upshift and downshift were rough. I was unable to hit the switch to turn on VDC again.
When I started the car this morning, both lights are off and the car runs fine again. Has anyone ever had this issue? I don't believe my brakes would have anything to do with the rough shifting but I'll have the rear brakes replaced until I can find a solution. I'm hoping this was a one time thing that happened randomly and that it won't be a major issue.

Only thing I can remotely suggest is check the level of your AT fluid and change/refill if necessary. Sounds like it could just be a computer glitch since it happens so randomly. Have either of you had your cars scanned for any trouble codes? Sometimes they will occur but not trip the SES light. Just spitballin' here though.
Pay for a diagnostic at Nissan and they will tell you exactly what the problem is for about $150. Sometimes this is the easiest option, then you can decide how to proceed with the repair.

Have you taken your front wheels off or rotated tires before lights started? When you turn a corner going between 2000-3000rpms does front end feel like its locking up or hitting the brake intermittently?
I am not a frequenter of this forum; however, I searched and found this symptom and am also experiencing it with my 2011 Infiniti M56.
Occasionally, the car will have difficulty turning over, slow cranking, but starting. When this happens, the VSC and radar sensor ( used for lane departure and speed control) lights are on. As well, the transmission hard shifts and lightly surges when slowing to a stop. Restarting the car clears the issue up.
I’ve had Infiniti look at a dying battery issue for years that has been traced back to an emissions function that won’t allow the alternator to charge the battery, unless the car has been driven for 8 miles or more. Running as designed is what they say. Also, I had an additional 4 gauge battery cable installed, as the factory charge cable was undersized.
Any other thoughts why this could be happening?
