At what mileage did you need to replace your wheel bearings on your V36 sedan?

Also what would you recommend as a decent replacement, or are they all created equal?

Wheel bearings can last as little as 50k miles or as much as 200k.

Replacement depends on a LOT of factors, how hard is the car driven on corners, are there wheel spacers, is it aligned regularly, etc.

Stick with a name brand for long life, Moog would be your upper end, same with Timken. Timken is probably a more popular replacement for this chassis, excellent reputation.

Thanks Cleric. Doing a search most of the results come back without any real name brand. I did find Timken but they were about 30-40% more.

Anyway I grabbed a pair of 'Kugel' bearings. Will be replacing both fronts, hope the quality is ok, will report back.

If you're stock alignment, no wheel spacers, and drive "normally" you'll probably get 50-80k miles out of them.

I see, I'm guessing that's on the low end of the spectrum. Approx how much would a timkin be good for?

80k-120k for a stock normally driven car. You may get a little more but probably not going to hit 150k on the stock wheel bearings.

Mine started making noise at about 110K miles.

Got the new bearings installed today. The ones I ordered were a bit of a head scratcher so we opted to order another set (CBK) from the local parts place that were an exact match, although curiously they appeared to be for 2009-2014 models. Mechanic opted not to remove the vehicle speed sensor saying there is a good chance it will get damaged, and instead opted to cut a section in the shield or end cap in order to get it to pass through. Old bearings were in rather pitiful shape.

Kugel bearing I ordered. As you can see the cap or shield is not - i guess you could call it 'rolled' - almost like they omitted this step at the factory.

So quite an ordeal, nothing ever goes exactly to plan. On the plus side the car glides now like a Cadillac.

Yeah that's definitely a manufacturer defective item. Glad you got it all sorted out.

I got 180k miles out of my oem bearings on my 2007 g35x. Changed them after 14y. Fronts were easy. The rears was a bitch to get out.

Had to replace my fronts at 65,000, lots of auto x on those and high speed running, haven't touched the rears yet This in on an X btw.....
Went with SKF.

what about SKF? They used to be top before?
