Break-In Schedule

I can never understand people that don't read the manual, I had it downloaded long before I picked up my car.
But, the salesman should have mentioned the reccomended break-in.

I then called the dealer to complain but he gave me the "There is not real break in on these cars" story. I will definitely be paying more attention now, but thank you for the reassuring words, it is good to know I didn't ruin my car!
Thanks,
Vince
Biggest thing to worry about is varying the rpm's for the first 1,000 miles or so. As long as you don't go WOT, you'll be fine. The cars today are not your fathers Oldsmobile (as the saying goes).
I found this article and maybe this helps. I don't know how accurate this can be.

that's good info, i know for a fact my 06's 6MT when i bought it from the dealership had been under WOT multiple times (including when i test drove it)
it had 60 miles on it when i bought it, i've only had to replace the clutch because of a hydraulic fluid leak, other than that it has been perfect.
idk how much that helps but maybe dealerships should start telling you how the car has been treated by the test drivers >
but i have no room to talk =D

I bet this discussion is on every single new car forum.
I've bought several cars, German, Japanese, and American, and you always hear the same thing, sometimes its 3000 miles though, but always the same magical rpm level.
So I'm just curiose what those people that say this think will happen to the car should you go WOT before then?

On the day that I picked my car up, my salesperson told me specifically that no break-in period was required, and that you could run the car on regular unleaded gas if you wanted to. He said he had spoken with Infinity technicians and this is what they told him.
In any case, I have been trying to keep my rpm's down during the first 1200 miles, and I have been putting premium gas in the car. I currently have about 600 miles on the car. I am sure that I have exceeded 4000 rpm's on several occasions, but probably not more than 10 times or so. I live in Houston, and sometimes you just have to get around certain people.
I think I understand the concept, but what does "WOT" stand for?
Thanks.

You aren't going to hurt your engine driving it aggressively. Certainly no need to wait for 1200 miles. I work in the powertrain dyno testing business, so I (like to think) I know what I'm talking about.
Have fun with it!
