sorry forgot to post an update.

got my car back after it had two different steering columns put in. the first had a bad motor and it just wouldnt move. so they ordered a second and installed it. the problem seems to be gone now. the steering wheel wasn't straight when i picked it up so i took it back and they re-aligned the toe (like they should have the first time). They were apologetic and fixed it really fast, in their defense. car seems to be working fine and i'm personally glad i got the repair.

while it was in there, they solved a rattle problem i had in the right front door.

glad to hear that they actually did their job and fixed the problem.
today i made an appointment to drop it off tomm morning to get the column replaced. so ill keep you posted on how that goes.
BUT also i have a rattle in the front passenger door. i brought it in once before and they even made it worse then it was. so now gonna have them fix both. WOW seems to me like w.e problems persist with the car you and i share the same defects. thanks, iill let you know.

yea so had the steering column replaced for about 3 days now and the FKIN motor just went. so it only tilts up and down not in and out. doesnt even make a noise. so im going to call the fkers up again, to see wtf they can do,

sorry, maybe it wasn't clear. the steering column moving downwards AFTER it is done moving into position. ie, it should be locked already, but isn't until you apply downward pressure.

PMJI. That's what the dealer told me, too. I've since changed the seating position and the wheel moves a lot less to lock than it initially did.

And they're starting to see a run of cars with the same problem, or so I'm told. No word from Infiniti other than, don't fix it - replace it.

Yep, pretty much. In some positions the movement is greater but not any more than what anyone else has reported in this thread.

in the last month I've noticed the same thing in my car

now I don't hold onto the wheel wehn getting out of the car!

Had the dealer check mine while it was there for sunroof and seat heater TSBs; they said they checked two other cars on the lot and they all do it (which I can believe). Mine only moves a coule of mm, not going to worry about it unless it gets worse. Once it locks into place, I can hang on it and it's like a rock.

I have the same issue but mine does not seem to drop down much. My steering wheel seems to just click everytime after startup, but then stays consistent throughout. I probably will not have it fixed though since once you give it to the dealer with a minor problem like this, they tend to mess things up even more. I suggest just dealing with it.

As an Update to this issue. I finally got my car in for a service and they are going to replace the whole column, much like others on this forum. Any updates from others who have had this issue?

I have the same problem you all have with the steering column. Even after it finally locks into place, I can move the column slightly up and down. Possibly a safety issue but definitely not something you should feel every time you get into a high-quality automobile.

Mine always moves a couple mm to. I guess I will mention it to the service dept. next time I'm in for oil. I'm just worried that sometimes when they take things apart to repair them they make thing worse. Better safe than sorry.
