Anyone change to a 4.083 gear?
Check this out.

There are plenty of other gear ratios from other rwd models as well.
Only question I have is whether it will interfere with cruise control and traction control.
Used parts could keep overall price in check.

void the whole power/drivetrain most likely....
when you mod anything, it will void all related parts.
so is anyone going to attempt this??? I wanna do it, but need to see a guinea pig do it first

Automatics don't need as low a gear as manually shifted cars do. I know of one guy with a 3.91 gear in an automatic. I don't know of anyone with 4.08's in a 5at.
5at cars have a different, thicker ring gear. The 4.08 gears will not fit on a differential from a 5at car. You can get a different diff or swap in a different pumpkin, though.

yea i know but, alot of the less experienced guys will get the same answer from a dealer if they ask them about it. Although, some dealers will install the parts but only warranty THEIR own work. Not all dealers will do it if the part is not a vehicle specific oem piece. The dealer only gets the money from corporate for warranty work if an infiniti oem part has failed.
If the dealer can't prove that an infiniti part did fail and an aftermarket part is in question, they simply cannot warranty it.
I know from experience you can easily get away with any mod if you know how get it by the dealer. One way is by not going to the dealer if you have modified an area of the vehicle that has broken.
The other is that if you do go, for a problem in that area, fix it yourself or uninstall the aftermarket part.
you should be able to get around the whole warranty issue for the gears. but if your diff blows out, might need to think about my suggestions
