Slip light??

So just wondering if you guys activate the slip light a lot. Even in "normal" driving around town the light comes on an aweful lot. My biggest complaint is when I am at a red light, and need to make a left turn as traffic is coming. The car pulls forward and then power is cut and the light starts blinking. Very annoying. I know the system is doing what it is supposed to, but still annoying at times. I wish the car would just depend on the AWD and stop cutting power or tripping the brakes. I think our stability control needs selectable threshold levels.

I don't have a problem with it but I'm pretty casual when driving and leave ample time to cross the intersection without having to accelerate in a fashion that would cause slippage. If cars are coming I just let them pass and I'll wait it out.

get the kptechnologies module that will remember the 'last' setting when the car's restarted and then if you turn it off, it will stay off until you turn it back on. in the summer, you'd probably never need it, then turn it on when it starts getting nastier out.

Good point. I actually never even shut it off becuase it's not like I think of it. Good to know there is a module to leave it off. I really only want it on when it's raining or in the snow.

It comes on for me a lot...but only when it's one of those "Hey, check this out!" moments where it really needs to otherwise I'd be fishtailing into a ditch on some backa$$ country road that looked fun to drive through on the Nav system.

That seems odd - mine comes on in tight corners, but usually when I'm either a) slinging it into the corner or b) on the gas starting into it. And I have an S - if you're getting a lot of slip on an X, that's surprising. Is it on crosswalks or painted surfaces (those are slippery)?

u get it on the X because its not a full time all wheel drive like a scooby or audi.

the front kicks in when it needs it, IE as when the back slips out.
so when your 4wd kicks in, vdc also kicks in because they have the same triggering mechanism.

turn vdc off and hammer it and you will hear the back chirp a lil, that's the split second that your car is only RWD.

No, the front is always active before 12(?)mph no matter what and it switches over to RWD once it gets past that.

are you sure thats not snow-mode?

if thats true, then where is the chirp comping from? its not chirping all 4 tires.

I'm not 100% sure what the snow mode does but I am pretty sure the X is AWD at the start no matter what.

Okay I did some searching and this is what I came up with.

In times where there is no traction, the AWD system will adjust itself accordingly, just putting it in snow mode means that the probability of wheel slippage is reduced slightly.

So I guess we are both right, an AWD system that is biased towards RWD... but it seems like you're more correct since he said 100% of the power will be sent to the rear during full throttle.
