How did they do that? Are you sure it was actually a head gasket and not a manifold or valve cover gasket?

How did they do what? Find the leak? I told them I was having idling issues. All the wording and documentation indicates head gasket. very weird i know. Im skeptical to believe head gasket as well.

Yeah . . . WOW. If it is indeed a HG, I think it's the first one I've heard of on an HR.

Back one year later. Finally set up the appointment to have a new compressor installed. I could go even longer (survived last summer when it was 103F, bumper to bumper traffic for 20 minutes on the way home), but the bearing on the compressor pulley is totally gone and sounds really awful. Started off very quiet, now it's loud as heck.

They want $1200 installed.

The warranty is 4yr/60k miles, I've had it for 4yrs and 2 weeks and its only at 52k miles. I better have luck.

Try other independent shops and get a second opinion. They will fix it for cheaper.

Do you ever check the date of the posts you respond to to see if they are still relevant? This post is 14 months old. (07-23-2011, 09:39 AM to be exact)

I'm pretty sure he's gotten the issue resolved one way or another by now.
