So my fiancé that it would be a good idea at about 5 MPH to grab the shift **** in the 2007 V36 5AT... she went back and forward I think it hit park, after a shout match I found out the car does not register its in park anymore...

-It says (Shift To Park) on dash although its in park.
-Do not need to push the brake in order to go from park to Drive
-If I take the Key Fob out of car theres one long continuous beep until fob is back in car. (I have to leave the fob in and lock/unlock with the key)

PLEAASE HELP

Is it the shift linkage? Is it inside the center console? brake switch?

i'm going to say the linkage is broke and the car doesn't know it's in park. I don't think it is in the console.. Just my two cent

Not sure if it could be the issue but try removing the shift **** and physically putting it in park with the little rod that allows it to change gears. You'll have more room to see what could be going on but chances are it's just not able to lock into park for some reason

oh one more thing... the little button on shifter does not "pop" out when in park, it stays as if im pulling it in.. maybe its the button not coming out in park and that's why it doesn't read its in park? it come out in other gears.

Have you tried pulling the **** off like I suggested? I'm sure something is amiss inside there, you won't know until you check

I took the shift **** apart, put it back together and it registers that its in park now.. its a little stiff and sometimes does not register but I guess its better than not working at all... I think its something on the bottom of the plastic shaft under the **** that's binding up.
