D2S is what you're looking for.

The OEM is 4300k but eventually color shifts to 5000k, thus why if you've had the bulbs on for a long time and one needs replacement, it's better to replace both bulbs to ensure a match.

As far as light output is concerned, you want to take note of the Lumen's. It's inversely related to kelvin. That is, the higher the kelvin, the lower the lumen's, and vice versa.

 

I have Ultinons and like them quite a bit, but I got them from a member here and not sure where he got them. I can ask.

soundmike, I'm no lighting expert but I still think lumens are a measure of light output and the colour temperature is the perceived quality of the light (warm, cool, daylight) and has no mathematical relation to lumens. I suspect what you mean is that typically, higher colour temp headlight bulbs emit fewer lumens than lower-temp bulbs.

 

Yep, that's what i meant. I don't think they're mutually exclusive, but for automotive lighting, all else being equal*, it has proven to be pretty much on target.

*Say, comparing same bulb-type and wattage.

 

Actually the more I read about it the more conflicting info there seems to be, but generally we are in agreement.

Bottom line, I think the OP found the light he was looking for and it's a great choice for the application regardless of the science behind it.

 

definately get philips ultinons if you are switching out your projector bulbs. I upgraded to 06+ projectors for my coupe and upgraded all my bulbs before I installed, Ultinon 6000k with luminics 2500k fogs. Got them all off eBay, and couldn't be any happier with the color and quality of these things. Anything over 6000k just doesn't look good IMO and just remind me of all the girls who want "pretty purple lights" or something.

You're looking for D2S's, but just look at the sylvania bumb replacement guide before buying any new bulbs to make sure you are getting the right type of bulb

I'm not too keen on buying bulbs off ebay, These are the same as Robby's so if they've been fine for over a year on his then hopefully they'll be just as ok on mine. Now as for the fogs, what does everyone suggest???

2500k for fogs? and if so what type? are they the same bulbs as the low beam lights?

Also are there any DIYs? because the one on the DIY section has broken links so the pics don't show up .

 

2500 is a deep yellow, great for fogs. luminics have the best color IMO.

like i said before, just look at the sylvania bulb replacement guide (you can google it) and put in your year/make/model etc and it will give you all the lights and what type of bulb they take.
