One of your cheaper options with a wear guarantee is to look at something like the Kumho Ecsta LX all season grand touring tires. You should be able to find tread wear ratings on all season tires but there is no such thing for summer tires.

The unfortunate truth is that running 19s comes with a price tag.

Because everywhere I read, people buy expensive tires and the tread is done by 10k miles. Why spend more if the tires don't last? I don't care about ultra performance. I like the look of the 19's and want to have tires I can rely on for life, not looks.

Thanks, this is the answer I was looking for. I don't need summer tires -- all-season is fine with me.

i think you SHOULD care about performance.. and i dont know were you read that people buy expensive tires and they are done at 10k miles. You know a lot of the life of the tires is based on the driving style, and what kind of camber they are under. For 19's EXPECT to pay a good amount.. No disrespect but you buy a g35 and want cheap tires? you compare the tire prices for a 98 maxima and a g35?

Almost every review here complains about tires and how quickly they wear on the 19's: http://www.infinitihelp.com/models/2...pe/reviews.htm

I don't mind paying $250/tire, but at that price, I better be guaranteed 60k miles. Also, I'm not comparing, I'm simply pointing out how I get a guarantee on $75 tires but nothing on more expensive ones.

How many miles are you getting on your tires, I'm guessing less than 25k.

I never understood why I was paying more for less rubber.

Also, cheap tires do NOT equal crap. I don't want to be overcharged, but that's what it seems like with 19's. They assume if you can afford a car with 19's, they might as well jack up the price and make you buy the tires.

It's not that I can't afford the tires, it's that I don't feel they're priced properly.

Maybe I missed it but they don't state WHICH tires they are using. Have you checked through the tire section on HERE?

the tires I plan on getting are going to be Falken 452's for 630 mounted and balanced at a local shop i know of. My current tires are the oem potenzas and I'm at 30k+ miles and there is noticeable tire wear + my car is pretty low so I have -2.4 camber in rear and -1.6 in the front. I honestly don't feel the tires slipping or anything

the thing here is you have to shop around and search around. If your whole search on tires and their tread wear has been just the infiniti help site and not THIS site then that's not enough

The tires for 19s for these cars (as this is my only experience with 19s) are expensive. You CAN get cheaper tires of course but they will wear out FASTER.

Is that $630 for all four? Are they all-season or summer tires?

cpufreak,

The michelin pilot all season plus tires have the highest mileage guarantee (45000) out of all the available 19 inch all season performance tires. They're not cheap. I just bought a set from costco for ~1200 installed for my 05 6mt coupe.

In researching these tires, I came across a lot of good reviews, including some the guys over at the m3forums. As long as you don't take your car to the track, you shouldn't notice too much of a performance difference from the summer performance tires.

You can go with cheaper tires, but you always get what you pay for.

This logic makes no sense at all. What $75 tire with a mileage guarantee can perform anywhere near the levels a dedicated summer tire in a 19" size can? Heck, find me a tire at ANY price that can perform as well and last 60k. It isn't possible. You get better performance by using soft rubber for better grip. Expecting soft rubber to then last for a significant period of time is just being unreasonable and ignoring the laws of physics. Think about it. Maybe you bought the wrong car.

so to make sure I'm doing this correctly a 245/35 up front would be just about the same as running a 225/40. I used the tire size calculator and I see that the 245/35 up front would be just a slightly smaller tire (sidewall, radius etc). So is it okay to run a 245/35/19 and 245/40/19 ?

I recently changed to my tires to Falken 452's using both sizes you mentioned.

245/35/19 - fronts

245/40/19 - rears

Everything is fine.
