Performance is a relative thing for most people. Performance could mean just for looks which I think is what a lot of people are going for.

Now myself, I'm going for handling. Just a few more fractions of a 'g'. Every fraction of a second counts. When you push the wheels to 100% on the track the typical rule is the more rubber in contact with the road the better.
Hmmm. I've never heard of "performance" being used just for looks. IMHO, performance is an improvement in the power, handling or braking aspects as it relates to a car. I agree with you on the handling.

Nothing ventured nothing gained. If I had the throw away cash to buy 2 new sets of rears I'd try it out. I plan to go 275s in the back when my current stock of rubber wears out but comparing two different brands at 2 different tread depths would be a mismatch.

And I know people have insainly stretched R or A compund tires onto their stock rims for autocross. To the point where it just looks funny. But I hear tires designed for the track actually stretch better onto a rim that is too narrow.

Anyway I gave up on the internet search, didn't find crap.

EDIT: On a lesser side note, Generally modding the car in any shape or form is out of the acceptable safe range.

Track tires have much stiffer reinforced sidewall that can handle the bulging better. I don't know of a single mod promoted here that is potentially more dangerous than stock

I don't doubt that but I really don't know much about racing tires.

The only mod promoted here is varying sizes of tires.

I was looking at these tires on www.tirerack.com.

Can I get away with this setup?

235/35ZR19 on the front
245/35ZR19 on the rear

on a coupe? way to short, 235/40/19 and 245/30/19 would be better in those widths

Also, would a 275/40/18 bulge on a 9" rim? Would it be better to stick to 265 in this case

Yes it's an 06 6MT coupe. I'm looking for all season tires that will fit this car. The Bridgestone Potenzas are terrible when it's cold out and they wear out too fast.

Anyone running all seasons on the 19" rims?

why aren't there more tires produced in the 225/40/19 245/40/19 size bracket? Even if you go down a step to the 18" of the same widths, you find more tires!

This thread is old, but nobody addressed whether or not a 235/35/19 front and 255/35/19 rear set-up would be alright. This is the only reasonable size the tires are available in that I want to replace the OEMs with (Goodyear Eagle F1 All-Seasons - better tread life than the ultra high performance summer types and good wet traction). I figure its pretty close to stock: it keeps a 20mm stagger and only decreases the sidewall size slightly.

Im planning on running 275s as well, Is your car lowered and do you have any issues at all with rubbing?

235 35 19s? I wouldn't do it. I'm running 245 35 19s in the front.
