There is definitely a break-in period on all tires, including these. It'll take a few hundred miles, from what I understand, to burn off the chemicals in the top layer.

last week my friend rode off after getting a new rear tire on his R1 & bussed his @ss in the first turn he made ....I can laugh about it now cuz he's alright

You'll be hard pressed to find a tire that can come close to the toyos at the same price point.

Update
Its been about 3 weeks Ive been rockin these T1R's & I'd say a started to notice a better ride around the second week
the weather here in NJ has warmed up a lot & I bet that is a factor because this is a summer tire (like someone pointed out already)
when i first put them on avg temp was high 30's - low 50's
now we are seeing steady 60's & 70's
I'd say these are pretty good once broken-in
Im going to purchase new T1R's for the front this week
