Question regarding tire sizes..

I have an 04 6mt coupe with the brembos.. The tires on the front are 225/45/18 and the rears are 245/45/18 stocks. I am getting a second set of 18" wheels and would like to run the same size tires front and back (winter tires) so that I can rotate throughout the winter.

Does anyone know what an acceptable and more common tire size for this car to go to that would have more sidewall and possibly tackle the snow better without messing things up?

For a winter nonstaggered setup, I would run a 235/45/18 all around if available, or 225/50/18

narrow is generally considered better for snow tires, less resistance to the snow. though i have noticed that you can "paddle wheel" through deep powder better with a wider tire. but generally, narrow is better 225 is a good width for snow,

Excellent thats exactly what I was looking for thanks for the replies!!

Seems it opens up 2 more possibilities for tires... Instead of the dunlop m3's i was getting with standard tires, I can now choose between blizzak lm22/lm25 and the dunlop m3's.

225/50/18 -> Blizzak LM25 $179 ea

235/45/18 -> Blizzak LM22 $171 ea and Dunlop Wintersport M3 $199 ea

From Tire rack. I guess now only to figure out what ones will be best for Canadian winters.

I should have asked, will these tire choices fit on my 18"oem rims even though they are for a staggered setup (rims)and the tires are not?

Hey, if the price is right go for it. I don't have to deal with winter tires thank
God but the 235's should work for a few months each year.
