Front Brake

FYI, Spoke with infinit and they told me that they just (01/04) issued new part for front brake pad.
Make sure they use the new part in you need brake job. I got 40K on mine going in for 2nd Front brake job. Kinda suck.

Re: Front Brake

That's good to hear, any idea what the difference may be? How about a part number, any idea? Geez, that's too bad they didn't come out with it before your milage went over, are they doing anything about that for you? BTW, how's the car doing otherwise at 40k?

Re: Front Brake

No, nothing. Since it's over 36000, infiniti said there nothing they can do. They did already paid for the 1st one. Sorry, I do not have the part number for it.
My 4DR Gs still running strong @ 40K.

Is there a letter out? Did they do this change on 2004 models?

Re: Front Brake

I hope you aren't going to the dealer then this time, I sure wouldn't, I'd find a reputable shop elsewhere and have them use a better pad, I'm sure it would be a helluva lot less than the dealer!

Re: Front Brake

Yeah, I'm getting after market pads and taking it to local dude for the brake job. Wish they thought of this before rolling it out.

Re: Front Brake

Brake Pros has some metal matrix pads that seem to hold up quite a bit longer than the stock pads. They're pretty inexpensive too.

I'm wondering, sometimes if there is a known flaw, problem, they will even do it beyond the warrnty if an improvement has been made, I'd check it out if it's not too late, may be blowing smoke, but never hurts to ask! I always ask when in doubt since a friend had broken a crankshaft on his GMC pickup that was out of warranty, had it fixed, but found out later that GM would have done it, he did get some comp, but not complete since it was done at another garage!

ABQ_G35-Gfreak,
Good point, thanks for the tip. I'll repost the answer from Infinit after speaking with them.

Re: Front Brake

I picked up my G35x several weeks ago. I had already purchased EBC Greenstuff (kevlar) pads, but decided to give the "new" pads a try. They are supposed to be harder than the original pads. They were slightly less grabby than the old old pads, but at 300 miles my wheels were still covered with dust. Warrantee or no, I wasn't going to live with the dust. It took me 30 minutes to change the pads. Interestingly, the EBC surface area is about 20% larger than the OEM pads, which have both ends cut (tapered) off. The EBCs are noticably better than the OEMs in several repects. They aren't grabby at all; give more even brake feel; seem to stop better; and no dust!!! My wife, who also had EBC's on her Audi, immediately felt and commented on the improvement.
