Installed H&R 5mm Spacers Without Replacing Studs

I installed H&R 5mm spacers on the rear of my G35 sedan without replacing the factory studs with the longer studs. I realize it's recommended to replace with the longer studs. Although is it safe to run with the factory studs?

Why is it not safe? Will the lug loosen? What else can happen?

you dont have as much thread left for the lugnut to grab on to with the added 5mm. You run a risk of the lug loosing and falling off.

Can you provide a link on how to install remove and replace the rear studs on a 07 G35 Sedan?

[QUOTE=OH6 G35]...how I did mine!

So on the rears I have to unbolt the center hub bolt to remove the rotor, correct? Unlike the front where the rotor is free floating. Also what tool did you use to install the wheel studs? Please advise.

Thanks!

NO! Do not remove the center Hub Bolt!
At first, I thought about removing the Wheel Hub / Bearing Assembly but then decided against that idea. This requires too much additional work that isn't necessary. Once you remove the Wheel, you may have to back-off the Parking Brake Adjuster (that's if the Rotor doesn't slide right off). Wheel Studs were installed with just a Socket (that goes over the Stud and acts as a spacer), a Nut and a Socket Wrench (as pictured above).

No need for longer studs with 5mm spacers imo. I've run it, and the lugnuts still have more than enough threads to be safe.

How long have you been running with 5mm spacers? Also do you find yourself having to retorque the lugs more than usual?

IMO anything over 3mm needs longer studs. Just get the nismo studs and be safe.
