Re: Tein Flex or Type CS

I have the Tein flex on my sedan and that is my vote. INCREDIBLE!!!!!!! The CS doesn't have as much adjustability, EX: my car is lowered and still has the stock suspenion travel length. Do look at my post in this section titled: I painted my rims... you can see pics of the car there. Keep in mind the ground is not exactly level.

Also read the "Best shocks and sway bars..." post on Fresh Alloy. That will REALLY enlighten you.

Tein's Flex system is part of their performance line and use's spring rates and dampner valving accordingly. Let's look at those spring rates.

My oem rate data has recently changed, I have not gotten my hands on a set of oem sport sedan springs to recheck, but the previous data was hardly different than coupe rates. So for the sake of comparision, I'll use the new coupe data. (I do have up to date non sport rates).

Oem spring rate
314lbs/342lbs

Tein Flex
672lbs/672lbs
Percentage of stiffness vs oem: +114% front +97% rear
Transfers +17% roll stiffness to front
Dampner valving biased to performance, to handle given spring stiffness (or known positive owner review's would not exist given those spring rates) Dampners are adjustable, and have a adjustment (or control) range where the dampners behave as if they were controlling 560lbs springs using the softest settings, all the way up to 784lbs springs at the firmest settings.

Tein CS
392lbs/392lbs
Percentage of stiffness over oem: +25% front +15% rear
Transfers +10% roll stiffness to front
Dampner valving biased to comfort.
Dampners are adjustable, want to say adjustment range in the lower setting act's to control 280lbs spring rates and 504lbs spring rates in the higher settings. Lowest control range if I'm wrong would be 336lbs and 448lbs accordingly.

Re: Tein Flex or Type CS

If you're looking for something close to the stock ride quality, then you may be disappointed with the 'current' Type Flex. It is very harsh!
Be careful when you ask for feedbacks from past Type Flex owners, as there have been at least two revisions out there with different spring and damper rates. The most current being the most aggressive at 12-kg/mm (671 lb-in).

Type CS would be your best bet, if 'comfort' is paramount.
