TPMS and VDC question
TPMS and VDC question
Sorry if this has been posted before. I searched but can't find any specific info to my problem.
Anyway I recently replaced the 18s on my 04 Coupe with the OEM 19's from the 05+. I got new rear tires and used the TPMS that were already on the 19s.
A week after that I took the car for a trip on a very fun road, and about 30-40 minutes into the road my TPMS light came on. I stopped to check all the tires and they were all at around 37-38PSI. I kept driving and my traction control started doing weird things and randomly thinking that my car was spinning out of control. It felt as if I had no control of the car.
Could this be related to the TPMS from the other wheels?
Do I have to program these to my car?
On the way back the TPMS light came on again, so I turned off the VDC and everything was fine.

The low pressure light used to come on on my car with the OEM 17s and with OEM 19s after 30 minutes of highway driving. I never took it to the dealer for that problem (always forgot). As far as the VDC, i have no clue because my VDC was never on for more than 30 seconds in my 4 years of ownership. But i used to have the tire pressure problem as well after certain period of highway driving.
I don't know the solution so my post was probably useless but nonetheless i did have that problem.

If these were not the ones already on your car, they need to be programmed to the system.

I was able to reset and have the tpms relearn a different set of wheel sensors without any special tools. Please refer to Post 18 in:

The wire is grounded to set the tpms into relearning mode. The other end of the wire is plugged into the connector (as per OBD3Solution Blog instructions). Once the relearning process is completed, just disconnected the wire from ground and let it float or remove the wire entirely.
