First post. i own an 04 g35 coupe with brembos. I just picked up a set of Work vsxx in
18x9.5 +7 and 18x11 +7 . I do plan on lowering the car with coilovers/camber/toe kit... the whole works... anyway. from what ive read i cant have more then 3% difference in tire diameter. soo would a 245/35 tire work up front and a 285/35 rear work? im looking for a nice even look and not a ton of stretch. and i am aware that ill need to at least roll the fenders.

im a newb when it comes to fitting wheels... any help/advice is apreciated. thanks.

I just want to know, if I can take my car to a tire shop and they can align it to OEM specs, or do i need some one with a bit more expertise than a regular mechanic.

From some of the reading I've done on here, it looks like that after the drop, specs should be different from OEM settings.
This is what I am talking about, see below

All your help is greatly appreciated.

NOTE: if I have posted this in a wrong thread, please direct me to the correct one.
With camber arms and Toe bolts your average mechanic should be able to align it to OEM specs.

There are tonnes out there for stretching. If you're curious about any just ask!

Couple of my friends have had some pretty filthy blow outs on them, they're also very soft and wear too quickly when cambered.

I have a 03.5 sport sedan, premium package. I have the 17 inch 5 spoke sport rims. i saw on jdmparts.com that the 03 skyline 350gt sport sedan has the same exact wheels only they are made by Rays. same dimensions same offset same tire size. Are the early sport sedan 17's on the G also made by Rays?

Also, Ive noticed not many 03 sedans include the sport package. Comared to other versions of the G, are the 1st gen sport packages rare finds? Thanks for the help!
no, the sedan did not come with any Rays made wheels. The sedan wheels were all made and designed by Enkei.

Again, no the sport pack isn't rare but being a 6spd is.

Depends if the tires run true small or large.

You'll want a 245/40 up front.

Thanks for the reply.

I used those tire specs because i am running stock rims currently,18x8 all around with 225/35 up front and 245/45 in the rear. Thats how i bought the car and love the way i can feel the road with the 35 series sidwall up front. but... if my measurements are correct thats almost 2.5 inches of defference between front and back. over 10%(unless my math is wrong) difference? and i have no vdc issues that im aware of.

That's a totally ****ed up set up. Previous owner should not buy tires again.

haha. learn something new everyday.

So if it were your car what would you run? 245/40 fronts and 285/35 rears. That should be about 25.7 inch front height and 25.8 inch rear height. Just about even. Im a little worried about the 245/40 front not having enough stretch and rubbing on the fender when cornering hard.

The 245/40 will be fine up front, just pull the screws out of the fender liner.

Alright, visited my tire place... bad news.

I visited my tire shop today and they do have two 245/40/18 tires but ive never heard of the brand(dont feel comfortable buying)... they DO have 225/45/18 in BFgoodrich. If im correct that equals a 26 inch front wheel height but do you think thats too much stretch???

As you can tell im all about saving a bill if i can.

I could agree with the softness of them and wearing quickly - I'm running within oem specs front and rear though.

Were the blowouts stretching/air pressure related or just sheisty manufacturing?

I've loved my hankooks - but wouldn't mind trying a higher recommended tire for mild stretches for my next set. Any top recommendations?

No, stick to what you want not what they have in stock.

Wasn't misuse or anything, the tires just couldn't handle it.

I pretty much only use nankangs. Been my favorite tire and all my drifter buddies favorite as well.

thanks for the info 4D, it's a shame that the 03 sport sedans in japan had the same exact rim only made by rays...

let me confirm this with you, i'm needing tires soom and the OE 215's are bleh and i was thinking of going with 235 50's. overall diameter is within 6 one hundreths of an inch, so thats good. my only ? is would a 235 be too wide on OE rim? I plan to lower soon with H&R 350z springs and Tokico shocks. Will there be any issues with the 235's on that drop?

Thanks man.

It didn't.... who told you that? The japanese sedan is IDENTICAL to our aside from luxury attributes, RHD and badges.

I personally wouldn't mount a 235 on a 7 or 7.5" wheel it's just a little too bulky. It would work yes, but the tire could get a bulging appearance.

Blaine what brand/model tire would you suggest best for the setup I'm building?

Preferably one that's easier to mount/stretch since east coast shops are retarded
