Front tire size..

Front tire size..
Hi... I have an 06 G35 6MT... I can't even begin to tell you how much effort, research, struggle and so forth I went through choosing replacement tires for my car... I really disliked the ride of the original Bridgestone Potenza's that came on the car... I eventually settled on the Kumho Ecsta's and I've LOVED them... The Bridgestone felt and sounded like I was riding on round stones... The Kumho's are much better, IMO... I am starting to think about buying a new G, again a 6MT... I went online tonight and the first thing I did was checked the tire size... The rear is the same as my car (245/40/19)... But the fronts have been changed from 225/40/19 to 225/45/19... So what's the problem you ask??? KUMHO doesn't make a 225/45/19... Dang... What other tire size could I get to work instead of the 225/45/19???? I checked Tire Rack and they only show 8 tires in the 225/45/19 size and FIVE of them are Bridgestones... Nope... No thanks... Why would Infiniti choose such a poorly supported tire size???? Anyway, I'm not smart at what varied tire sizes can be used instead of the OEM sizes... Any help??? Thoughts???? thanks.. bob...

So based on your sentence im a little confused about what wheel size you have and what model year car you are buying.
Are you on OEM 19-inch wheels or some other wheel? I would think a 225/40 or a 235/40 would be just fine for the front. I'll let you search to see if the Kumho comes in those sizes.

changed the front tire size between 06 and 09...
because they have a relationship with bridgestone and they know most people will just buy the exact same tire over and over again.

But you think the 225/40's would work... Why do you think they changed from a 225/40 to a 225/45??? What does that do for handing or whatever??? And what would I lose if I instead put 225/40's on it????

need a bit of education
Hi... Can anyone help educate me as to what drives a car company to make a little tweek like changing a front tire size from 225/40/19 to 225/45/19... If I did the math right I think that makes the tire about an inch taller overall... Is it for looks?? For handling??? Or as one person suggested, to limit the availability of tires such that we are forced to a small number of vendors with whom Infiniti might have some business arrangement?? I would never change tire sizes if it would harm something or make the car dangerous or whatever... That's what I need to learn about... Or is it sort of "as long as it fits and doesn't rub, you're ok"...
Thoughts??? thanks.. bob...

I hear folks all the time talking about putting this or that non-standard size tires on their vehicles... I am just trying to get smarter so I can make good decisions if I decide to buy a new G37...
thanks.. bob..

I see... How would one determine whether going with a 225/40/19 on the front of a new G37 would be dangerous or at least not wise??? It's a big deal to me because I am really leaning toward buying a new G37 but I simply won't if I am stuck using BridgeSTONES... Tire Rack shows only 8 tires at the 225/45/19 size and 5 are Bridgestones... By contrast they have three pages of tires for the 225/40/19 including the Kumhos I use and really like now...

If I could use the same size all around, I could rotate...
Wow... That's interesting... If I could use 245/40/19 (same as rear) I could actuallly rotate the tires front to back... That would be handy... And you're confident I assume that there's no clearance issues or anything of the sort with using a 245/40 on the front??? I would guess not since that is in the ballpark of the same size as the 225/45... Thanks for the advice... bob..
