NOOB tire size question. 245/45/19 on the fronts?

Hey guys,

I found a really good deal on a set of 2 245/45/19's. Would these be okay to run up front on the stock Rays with a recommended tire size of 225/40/19?

I am running 245/40r19's in the rear. I've heard running 245/40r19's up front opposed to 225/40r19's will eliminate understeer. I just want to confirm that the sidewall size will not too large that it will cause issues.

Thanks

I'm running 245/35 hankook V12s on my OEM 19 Rays fronts. 245/45 is going to be super fat sidewall.

Thanks guys. I figured the sidewall would be fairly big. Is it going to be large enough that it will noticeably affect the performance?

How hard do you drive. Your speedometer will be incorrect.

Yeah, that's a bit taller than normal up front. Makes for a fine rear size though.

Thanks everyone.

Also, I know that people will run 255/35/19's on their 245/40/19 wheels for increase traction. Does this negatively impact lateral traction? I know running a taller sidewall will cause the sidewall to flex more, however im not sure about wider tires.

Thanks again

I doubt you will notice a difference when it comes to traction from a mere 10mm, but the lower profile will make the car feel "tighter" and will have a little better steering response. Overall traction is mainly the type of tire and the suspension setup.
