$250 for spring installation?

A local tune shop quoted me $250 to install springs (Tein H-Tech).

Is this a good price? Thanks.

Usually takes about 1.5hours to 2 hours at $65-85/hr... so that's a pretty big rip-off.

Try to get down to $200, $250 shall apply to Euro cars like MB or BMW If you are in LA, let me know.

Too high. $120 is reasonable. Only takes 1.5hrs to install. Shop around.

I just spoke to the guy again. He said it's a 2.5 to 4 hour job. I asked him why. He said it's because they have to take apart the interior on the rear side to get to the tops of the strut towers.

No matter what shop does the work, make sure they do NOT use a air ratchet to tighten the nuts and bolts down. I had a member's sedan at my house to do a shock intall on and had ruin a few nut's that were put on way too tight. I couldn't even remove the rear shocks because they were too tight and the bottom mount bolt was put in backwards preventing me from getting the leverage I needed.

Is this just for springs? What about the Tein Basic coilover set? How much?

Not with just a spring install.

There is no need to do anything to the interior in order to install rear springs. Everything can be accessed through the wheel well. Accessing the top of the shocks is only something reserverd for adjustable shocks where the **** is at the top of the piston such as the Tokico or Konis. And that is only for a matter of convienence, not necessity.

That's too bad. I actually found out about this place through this very forum. It was recommended.

See if you can talk to the actual tech instead of the clerk that specializes in
decals and pedal covers... ?
