Tire size options for OEM 19s?

Hey -

I tried some searches and couldn't find this out, any help would be appreciated! I'm interested in figuring out what the popular tire size choices are for the 19" stock rims on '05 coupes. How much different is it safe/smart to go? I want to keep the sizes right for VDC and ABS purposes, of course, but I would love to have flexibility so I don't have to stick ONLy with 225/40 and 245/40...

Thanks!

I'm going with 245/35/19 front 245/40/19 rear. Much more tires to choose from and maintains the correct diameters.

245/35 in the front looks close to stock - speedo would be about 1.3% fast, but that's pretty close to spec. Is 245 too wide for the stock rims, and does this mean that the staggered setup the VDC is expecting is off? I'm not criticizing your choice, just trying to learn!

Other than the uber-expensive PS2, there don't seem to be many great options in our stock sizes...

8" rims are the narrowest recommended for 245/35. OEM fronts are 19x8 so it'll fit fine. VDC is only concerned with tire diameters so no problem here.

doc, if you're going wider in the front, why not go to 255 in the back? Any reason not to?

Thanks again for your advice!

I personally want "neutral" handling and 245/40/19 is obviously an exact match of the oem diameter. Most important for me though is a lighter tire. That's why I will replace with Toyo T1R (pilot sport ps2's are even lighter but a lot more expensive). 245 is 2 lbs. lighter than 255 for T1R.
255/40/19 is not too far off in size though so I imagine it would be ok. I think several people on this forum actually use that size.

can you stuff 265s in the rear on the stock OEM 19s? like 265/35/19? probably asking for too much I guess.

Nope. Need at least a 9" wide wheel.
