Cant stand the brake dust ANYOMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I give up, i cant take it anymore, i am giving in and ordering brake pads. i have been looking around, and have heard that axxis metal pads are excellent all around pads that reduce brake dust and are pretty cheap. i have been calling places all day and cant find anyone that can order them for me. i also heard a lot about the greenstuff pads. but people have been saying they create more dust. I AM A FANATIC AND CANT CLEAN MY WHEELS TWICE A DAY ANYMORE. HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Cant stand the brake dust ANYOMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How many miles do you drive each day? I drive the US average (12,000 miles per year, which is about 33 miles per day), and I don't get any noticeable brake dust until about 4 or 5 days after.
When you wash your car, use Eagle One A2Z All Wheel & Tire Cleaner (but make sure to use it correctly or your rims will get ruined). That cleans your wheels real easily and hleps protect that for as long as possible.
Edited by MrElussive on 08/30/03 01:44 PM.

Re: Cant stand the brake dust ANYOMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!
The rate at which the brake dust accummulates is astonishing. I just drove about 30 miles, right after cleaning the wheels, and while they didn't look especially dusty afterwards, upon wiping them a very substantial amount of black dust was visible on the cloth. Within a couple of hundred miles the front wheels will become about 5 shades darker. It's insane. I can't imagine why anyone would design brake pads for a passenger car (even a very sporty one, with Brembos) that generate that much dust.

Re: Cant stand the brake dust ANYOMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree on the brake dust issue. I have aftermarket wheels with a polished lip on my car and it is realllly noticeable after about 30 miles of driving with very conservative braking. It is absolutely ridiculous. I usually end up cleaning them once a day just to keep the wheels looking good. I am probably going to order different pads for mine.

Who has actually gotten pads to stop the dust problem and put them on? What did you get, and could you get front and rear?
I don't know how to install or what to get. I have the brake dust problem also, not quite as bad as some of you, but it's a pain in the a$$.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Re: Cant stand the brake dust ANYOMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just got my 04 sedan and have the same problem. I'ts a pain. Any break pads out there that perform as well and eliminate the dust problem (ceramic pads)? Anyone know of an air duct that would create an air flow into the tire to push the dust under the car instead of out onto the rims? Sombody should make spinners with a positive air flow for these things.

OH YEA!!!!! with the brembos it's even worse. I get noticible brake dust after 2 miles. Just wipe your finger across the rim after you go to the store and there it is. I agree waxing them does help the cleaning process but that's it. If you really want to slow it down get one of those brake dust shields or whatever, worked pretty well on my dad's old car. I am crazy about keeping my car clean but not crazy enough to cover up that beautiful brembo. Damn my car is sexy.
Oh I did hear about ceramic pads being less dusty but they might cost more.

Re: Cant stand the brake dust ANYOMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got "Satisfied" Ceramic pads. They claim to be low dust but I deem them to be NO DUST. They are amazing. I have over 2k miles on them now, and my rear wheels with factory pads get dustier than my fronts now. And you guys already know how the rears get very little dust. They are only for the AT cars though. Cheap too, I think like $35 a set.
