Should I buy this 06' G35 Coupe?? need help

Hey guys,

I know there are many of you out there that have lots of experience with G35 coupes and I've come here to ask for your help. I'm looking into purchasing an 06' coupe here are the details:

-2006 G35 coupe sport.
-98K km on it.
- One owner. Lady driven
-always serviced at infiniti dealership
-clean interior/exterior from what I could see from the pictures ( no visible rust on body, great looking paint/clearcoat and no visible wear on leather seats or any of the interior)
-It has been winter driven every year since 06' (comes with winter tires)

I live in Canada, so my first concern was rust. With having driven the car every winter for the past nine years, I figured this might be an issue but the lady selling the car said she doesn't see any rust on the car and the dealership told her it's a clean car for its year. she's always done her oil changes on time and seemed to have taken good care of the car. I did ask her if she ever had the car undercoated or rust proofed and she told me that the dealership had advised her not to put any kind of undercoating on the car. any of you know why that might be?? anyway she is asking $13,700 for it. I may be able to talk her down to $12,000, Maybe $11,500 cash what do you guys think? is this worth taking a look at? Thanks in advance.

Look into insurance cost as I hear Canadian insurance cost is unreal.

thanks for your reply. Yes, I was looking at an 04' coupe and the insurance quote i got was about an additional $70 per month to have that as a second vehicle on my insurance plan so not too bad. I just hope the price doesn't increase too much for an 06' sport.

so what do you think? based on the info listed above, does it seem like something I should look into?

Thanks

Price seems reasonable, but here in the states a similar car might sell for 2-4K less than the asking price. Autos don't fetch as much either. If it was serviced at Infiniti it's whole life then that's great to have a backup of info.

It pretty much comes down to what deal you can make and what your comfortable with. A set of winter wheels and tires would run your over $1K so remember that when comparing apples to apples. Rust proofing is a scam tbh, as you have to completely cover the underbody with something for many years that doesn't damage paint - snake oil to make money off new owners.

The only issues these cars would have around that mileage is some electrical components to be replaced. Make sure you get it checked by s local mechanic in depth before you buy it though, some G's have oil consumption issues (not common with 05+ autos tho).

If you want to really get more info on the cars internals, get a leak down test and a compression test to see how the condition of the vehicle will be. It takes a long time but could mean not replacing an engine or cooling component after purchase.

Thanks for your input Urban, really appreciate the suggestions. I will make sure to do that. good to know about the undercoating, do you drive yours in the winter? if so, how do you maintain your car against the salt from the roads?

I just get an underbody wash every two weeks, and make sure you get winter wheels. The G is a beautiful car and great to drive, make sure it fits you well though .

$12k CAN would probably be more reasonable if its in pretty good shape. Not sure the conversion rates for USD-CAN dollar. Did you mention if it was Auto or Manual?

I'd definitely take a look at the least to see its actual condition. If it was taken care of and maintained, it will show.

thanks for your input guys,

I just got back from looking at the 06' G35. its in nice shape. other than a few stone chips from highway driving, its in really good shape inside and out. its been well taken care of with all maintenance done at infiniti dealership, synthetic oil changes done every 6,000km, new Yokohama summer tires put on two months ago, one owner (lady driven) and winter tires on rims included. she's asking $13,700 and I offered $10,900 cash. is that too low of an offer? what do you guys think?
