5th gear problems
Hi when I'm driving and put the car in 5th gear (manual tranny) and the rpms start to drop (2-1k rpm) the shift **** pops out of 5th and into neutral? Any ideas?
Seen a guy on my350z have this issue and he replaced his cd009 twice.
I'm looking for more of a specific answer. Also heard about the shift boot pulling it out of gear in early generations of nissians?
Any help is appreciated

Usually things like that are because of worn motor mounts or transmission mounts and the play is actually moving the shift linkage.
It can also be caused by significantly degraded gear oil, or the wrong viscosity, or low oil level. The gear oil basically "sticks to the rotating gear" when in motion and the oil literally helps keep Synchromesh gears stick together.
It can also be caused by broken synchronizers, usually you know this is a problem because you have to rev match to get the thing into gear in the first place.

my motor mounts and trans mount is poly, the fluid is the correct level and type (put in 3.5 quarts of mt90 in the cd009 when I swapped out my grindy cd008). I did just swap out my linkage too along with adjust my shifter plate…no luck
