You are right Ian, It certainly helped the car cover install.
But, after a short test period, Karen did not like it because of the poor reception in the fringe area we live in. So I ordered the Mangowalk 3" rubber antenna.
Well I installed the 3" Mangowalk.
The reception was improved but no where as good as the 7" OEM.
Well, guess what, I'm back to that 7" UGLY roof antenna

It was the FM that was affected on mine, the XM still worked fine.
