AC Compressor Noise Thread

A while back there was a thread about the noise from the ac compressor when the ac was on and someone had posted a fix for it including a picture(s) and a quick DIY on how he fixed it using from what i remember was a washer.

I have been searching for a while now and can't find the thread. Anyone have it bookmarked? or remember the title?

Thanks

Usually when this noise occurs it's either the clutch is wearing out

OR

Your cooling system is not working up to par causing the condenser to build up pressure. If you get off the highway almost immediately roll down your window and continue to hear the loud noise you could be in the route to buy a new a/c compressor soon.

But if you don't hear the compressor for a few moments then begin to hear it louder and louder; that means it's a tale-tale sign that your Radiator/Fans are suffering some type of loss and the a/c is just building up on pressure.

This page talks about the problem and needing a washer or spacer but I don't know if anyone actually sourced one: https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sed...ise-video.html

Yah this is the thread thank you.

After reading through it and contacting the guy who did the fix it seems like he was fixing a different problem then me.

I have replaced a lot of ac compressors on V36 model sedans. They are becoming more and more of an issue here lately on some of the higher mileage cars.

Wonder if it's something worth replacing preventive rather than waiting until it blows shrapnel into the coil and lines.

Can the clutch be replaced as a separate item?
