My setup is....

10" Alpine Type R
Alpine MRP-M500 Amp
4 gauge power and ground

I figure I might add that they only dim if I turn my bass past +2 on the headunit. It is also stock.

When your lights dim, that means the amp is drawing a lot of power. How do you have the sub wired?

I THINK he's asking how is the sub wired with the amp, and then from the amp, how is it wired to the harness..!? Because it could be a possibility that you tuned the amp high..

Well from the harness to the amp, it is wired exactly like it shows how to in this DIY. What should I turn down on the amp? The gain? Bass boost?

BEWARE of the Gain (man I burnt my effin JL 15W3.. lols) but try messing around with all of them to see which one is best for you.. You said if you go past +2 on the bass, it starts to dim correct? Well, it could be that the bass boost is high.. But damn, one amp is doing that. That's weird!

Did you buy an amp from the same guy that had the sub and the box?

Save yourself money and just use the ones laying around at home.. .. When you cut it in half, there are two wires.. (obviously + and -), just use that

ok so busted the multimeter out today (finally got some free time)

both rcas were sending about 12.8V constant.

this on both the inner prong and outer sheath, isnt one supposed to be a ground and therefore should show a difference in voltage when going from prong to sheath??

this makes me thing there is a short on the grounds but i cant find any. im thinking of trying to make a separate ground directly from the rca to some bolt, would this work?

With the exception of the power cable, all of the wires you would need are contained in the Bose wire harness correct?
