I'm going to assume that's 8 gauge power wire and ground wire, otherwise that's way too thick.
I'll also assume you have a box for the sub.

You'll need regular speaker wire (14 gauge) too.

Does your amp have speaker-level inputs? If not, you'll need a line-output converter.

You also need some wire to run to the remote power signal, unless your amp has signal sensing power turn-on.

I have a 500/1 JL audio amp, and 2 12" w3 JL audio subs... I am installing this in the sedan, and everything went well till i turned up the volume. Every time I turn the volume over 10, the subs stop hitting. Is there a solution to this problem? Any information would be helpful. If you need any more information about the installation let me know, I would be more than happy to provide it.

What else does your system consist of?

Need a lot more details.

Are you talking about the gain, the volume on headunit...?

Ok folks, I hope I am in the correct thread for this... I have an 04 G35, in which I audio aspirations for, here is my proposed setup:

Sony XAV60-Head Unit

Sony XM-ZR1252 800 watt amplifier

2 Rockford Fosgate P1S412 600W subs

Custom enclosure, etc.

Now my thing is that from reading various posts and videos, I think I want to keep the Bose- factory amplifier connected to the factory highs and mids, but I'm not sure if allowing the factory sub to remain connected is the best move? I have read that I need to purchase a Nissan/Infiniti Factory Integration Adapter, which I wire to my Sony aftermarket HU. By doing this, will that be all the additional items I need to use the factory amp/speaker connections w/o having to make costly upgrades to the whole system? I just want to make sure that if I do use the Factory Integration adapter for the factory amp, in addition to the built-in amp for the Sony HU, it won't put too much strain on my the factory speakers. I have read threads where the factory amp was bypassed and threads where it was kept in the audio system, I just need to know the best move to make, because this will probably be a DIY project. And also, what is the best move on the factory sub, I have read posts where people said they removed it to have better bass to inside compartment, what are your thoughts?

Where you just put a new HU in, you're best served by just running your own RCAs from the headunit's sub outputs instead of tapping stock wires like this guide shows. It will let you control the sub output much better instead of trying to balance it with the rears solely through the amp gain.

You can still use the factory remote signal wire though.

Hi, I just installed my pioneer 10" sub (TS-SW2501S2|S4) with pioneer 1200w mono amp (GM-D8400M) with the sub box i purchased from Zenclosures in my 2005 coupe. I'm new to audio stuff so i followed this DIY and the setup worked fine for about three weeks but i noticed while turning/accelerating the sub would kick in very loud and sometimes not with the music. The signal wasn't consistent and didn't sound very well and now I'm not getting anything at all from the sub. I took everything apart and soldered the wires from the bose harness again and made sure all the connections were good along with getting full power to the amp. The amp turns on properly but i'm not sure what else i should check to see why i'm not getting any sound from the sub. I even tried hooking up my old 12' sub to see if i got sound from that but nothing. Thanks guys any help would be appreciated!

Likely something basic like power wire or ground location, or an audio signal wire is grounding out somewhere.
