I have a question for the people that know a bit about car audio and more specifically these g35's. I have a 2005 G35 coupe with Bose. I am hooking up subs real soon and this thread is going to help me a lot! but i made a box that has two 12's and a pair of 4x6's. I love the box i made and had it in my previous 2004 G35 coupe, but that one had an after market Kenwood DNX8120 so i was set. Now i just ordered a new Kenwood KAC-9105D amp and plan on hooking that up to my 12's but for my 4x6's I have a older pioneer 200w max amp that worked good in my last set up but last time i used the "high level input" and tapped into my rear speakers but the new kenwood amp I am buying has the pre-amp output. So my question is can i hook up my kenwood amp and then run some RCA cables to my small pioneer amp to run my highs or does the headunit only send lower frequencies to the 6x9's and will cause my 4x6's to try to put out lows. I am pretty good with car audio and could figure this out when all my stuff comes in but if someone could tell me first so that i know if i have to run more wires that would be great. THANKS!!

OK, first of all, why do you have 4x6 speakers in your trunk? Do you park your car, stand behind it and listen to music with your trunk open? If so, then fine but for just driving around those speakers are worthless in your trunk.....ditch 'em.

To answer your question - you can run RCA cables from 1 amp to the next. However, I'm pretty sure the signal going FROM the bose amp TO the 6x9's in the trunk is not a full-range signal, its only for lows. To get a full-range signal, you need to tap into the signal going from the headunit to the amp. This is the best way as the bose amp EQ's the crap out of the signal. Also, by doing it this way you will need make sure that your amp can accept a balanced-differential signal. If it cannot, then you will need to get an L.O.C. that can convert the signal to standard single-ended.

yes, the 4x6's are just for car shows and showing off, they will be on a switch. But do you you know what the color of the wires i will need to tap into, either the front or rear speakers? i dont wanna go guessing.

Honestly don't know the color off the top of my head....When I installed mine I found a wiring diagram online and it was 100% correct. I think it was on here if you search or I might have found it by googling it, but I don't recall for sure.

Great job on the write up!

I would like to install an amp and subs in my G for the longest. What's holding me back from doing this project, is that our G's trunk space is small and compact.

Quick questions for anyone that can answer it,
what are the details of the stock 2004 g35 coupe bose amp?
If I was going to get a 12 in my trunk what amp would I need to upgrade to.
Are there any 4080 enclosure boxes out there still?
Where else do people get there boxes?

The Bose amp is a total POS that can't even power the stock components.

The amp you need depends entirely on what subwoofer you buy.

The "4080" enclosure is still available from the original designer at boxology: http://mysosinc.com/boxology_index.html

Others have been happy with the zenclosure-style box as well.

Okay then if I got this sub-
http://cgi.ebay.com/JL-AUDIO-12W0V2-4-12-CAR-AUDIO-SINGLE-4-OHM-SUBWOOFER-/290572709467?pt=Car_Subwoofers_Enclosures&hash=item43a77bae5bor this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JL-AU...item43a71d1ec4

What amp would be good with it?
Would this one be fine?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jl-au...fAudioQ5fVideo

and then upgrade the BOSE amp to...
http://cgi.ebay.com/KICKER-DX200-4-4-CHANNEL-AMP-CAR-AUDIO-AMPLIFIER-200W-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem35b2a37d47QQitemZ230630325575QQptZCarQ5fAmplifiers
Would these be sufficient upgrades?
Headunit being this
