The current BUS cable is about 3 1/2 feet (apprx.). Im working with a local stereo guy to make a longer harness. I'm not sure of a ETA yet or the price of the harness. Also looking into a cut off switch for the SAT radio function. Ill keep you all posted...

Purchased one yesterday from JOE... will there be an extension cable or is it going to be directly hard wired into the unit?
to clarify: because I bought the existing yesterday w/ the 3 1/2 foot cable. when you have the longer cables can we purchase the longer Cable and add it?

Guys,
As soon as I get the extended cable I will post it on the forum. I will also post a list of those people who have already purchased the kit from me. These folks will have first rights to the initial 10 cables that I get in. I hope to have some more information regarding the extended cable soon. Has anyone who purchased the kit already come up with some good install instructions (w/ iPod connector in the console) yet? Let me know, if you have send them to me and it might be worth a $100 credit...
-Joe

For you guys that have already done the install how far into the cabin where you able to run the cable or did you just leave it in the trunk. I have Sirius and it would not make sense to do this because once I had the ipod installed if I wanted to go back to the satalite radio I would have to stop and grab the Ipod from either the back seat or the trunk.

Easy as mentioned by Glycerine

Joe, thanks the unit actually arrived today rather than on saturday. installed in about 15 minutes..
oh mind you this was in a 03.5 Sedan.
just as an FYI... IF pre-wired.... Cable is on the passenger side of the trunk directly behind the back seat.
Controls are a bit touchy on the head unit but I think w/ time will get used to it.....

Plan on doing a write up on the installation as i bring the unit up in the cabin. and make it permanant..

Joe, thanks for your prompt service and it was a pleasure doing business with you.
Glycerine, thanks for the basic heads up on how to DIY.....

Hi Everyone,

I just got the kit installed yesterday. Thank you Joe and everyone else for your help with the install and interface instructions.

From the interface video and my experience so far, it appears that there is no way to scroll through sub-categories. For example, you can scroll through the artist, but you cannot scroll through albums by artist. Is this every else's experience? Or am I missing something?

Assuming this is the case, I have been trying to figure out a good way to achieve better organization. The best I can come up with so far is creating separate playlists for each album, using a shortened artists name followed by the album name. The reason for the shortened artist name is that only so much text can fit on the display. Does anyone have any better ideas for album organization? Also, does anyone know of a way to make the text smaller so more can fit on the display? Or rather, is there a way to see the rest of the truncated text of a playlist?

Thanks.

Shawn

Shawn,

Yes that's my only frustration with the kit. You can only search by the top level categories. Not so much of a problem if you have a small library. But i have a lot of music loaded on the thing so i use playlists, especially "smart" playlists. That's the real key. Here's a couple of sites that talk about how to organize your music into playlists, and being smart about it. Might give you some ideas.

Helps to have your music properly tagged. I use media monkey for that http://www.mediamonkey.com Free to use, with i think 20-30 bucks to upgrade to the pro version.

Will video out work at the same time?

I have a TVAndNav2Go unit that I would like to hook up at the same time to the iPod using the AV connector. I'm wondering if it will play the video output, or will it just play the default iPod screen like "OK to disconnect" or "Nissan" (sorry, don't remember what it is right now).

My kit is sitting on the floor looking at me.
Would you please put me on the list for the extension cable?

Thanks
